I wish somebody puts this thing in a movie already... and not a Syfy channel movie, a children's movie! Like from the guys who made The Secret Of Kells and (still working on) The Song Of The Sea!

Very creepy, I really liked the Bard Tale's version of this crature, even if they made him a bit to much like the classic centaur.

Interesting. I's actually a creature of Scottish folklore.

Ах, тот самый монстр. На идиллическом фоне смотрится довольно... "Эй, славная погодка. не так ли? А что это таААААА?!"
Жуткий глаз коня, не хотела бы такое увидеть в реальности.

Interesting how many people comment on the dissonance of the landscape and the creature, as I didn't even think about it.

Серьёзно?)) Наверное это отлично контрастирует, потому как привыкли, что монстры изображаются с кровью, кишками и пластинками Джастина Бибера, а тут свежий взгляд. Что довольно интересно.)

The blood and entrails are on the monster already, as well as near the cottage, where possibly the Justin Bieber CDs are located. Most likely the CDs were the reason they got a visit by that weird elf, together with the brat wailing.
But actually, I was just thinking of Bard's Tale while planning and looked at pictures from the Orkney Islands as background reference.

Выясняется, что у картины есть нехилый закадровый сюжет.)
А места действительно красивые.)) Интересно, каковго жить в горах?

Not that I have really experience with living on mountains (where I live are only hills) but from the trips to the nearest mountain range I can tell the main differences are the occasionally steep ways, whe prettier landscapes with trees and rocks, geology at hand and more interesting animals (especially on limestone ground, when you like mollusks).

The fins are canonical, though.
Do you by any chance read "Fafnir the Dragon"? In the second "arc" (the Twilight parody) they tried to make sparklepires, but due to problems the victims all became vampires from different folklore, one among them a creature practically identical to Krasue.
Rarely, the only other one with hidden stuff is the Obelisk, where my name is written between the runes. I just decided to have a bit fun with the foreground here, considering jumpers can be often found on fences , as well as remembering that pretty Evarcha arcuata male I found on a field trip last year.

But not as scary as the vampire melons from the Philippines. Or Krasue.
You see right. I have hidden three jumping spiders and one nursery web spider in it.

I think it was a Norse Mythology page. Unfortunately the link in their name just lead to "The Fair Folk", and not their own page. Oh well...

WHAT. I was reading up about a Nuckelavee for the first time the other day and now I see you've drawn it! Wierd wierd mythical creature indeed. Apparently it's afraid of fresh water. I'd've liked to have seen a bit of shine from the wet muscle ( as I noticed from skinning a rabbit yesterday. Couldn't be bothered to take reference photos. Should have ). You always have such nice bright colours. I like the mountains at the back!

Ramul In reply to Tabon [2012-07-26 11:48:06 +0000 UTC]
Whut, you read about it only now? I was pretty sure you knew about is, as it's from Scottich mythology. The less shine was actually intended in this case, as I'm imagining it to have a transparent skin (because getting your muscles and blood vessels damaged by the surroundings all the time would be very ...unpleasant), otherwise I would have done it shiny.
The bright colours were more a result of the automatic value feature, since my colours are usually pretty drab.

Nah, only recently. I end up browsing loads from many different mythologies or simply researching other things for my story, like medieval beliefs on medical treatment, the timeline; when the romans invaded, what was invented when, etc and general Scottish folklore, sayings and the like. I haddn't had many good sources of information for mythology but recently I've discovered a few decent sites where I've also managed to get other information from.
Hah, from the thumbnail it looks a bit like a 3D model from [link]

I think the contrast in the colours are stronger, but it might have to do with me seeing Nuckelavees only as mildly creepy.
