I like using painted avatars images on websites. This self-portrait was painted on the occasion of a client starting a KS campaign and needing an image of me; my last avatar was... gosh, four years old already? and of my RPG character Ranarh who is my online namesake, so this is the first actual portrait of me.This is a quick painting using an acrylics pouring as background and with alien skin colours (and I found it weird saying "alien" just now. I think it's coquettish to label oneself as "soooo different", and "odd, but sooo cool"; I'm not stylishly abnormal, just not making myself fit in places I don't want to belong in. And besides, artists are probably even more individualistic than regular modern humans, so what's odd, if there's no measuring stick?).

Thank you! It's easy to overthink these things... There aren't a lot of photos of me so it seemed logical to paint when I was asked for a picture for a project.

Thanks! I really love how the abstract background works, and will attempt to do similar pieces with traditional media on the actual acrylics pourings. I started with some ink sketches but didn't find the results too convincing, so I'll keep trying.

One was as the deviant ID, the other as proper submission. Only images submitted under the dA ID can be used for the profile page, but that category never gets any views 'cause it's basically just an asset (call me an attention hog here, but I wanted people to see this).

Ah, makes total sense.
I did a similar thing, but inadvertently, as I found out that if you use a landscape image it automatically flips it to portrait mode so I had to crop the original picture. Strangely, the cropped DeviantID version got a whole lot more faves/comments/views than the original, though that's probably partially due to me being inactive as shit.
