A repaint of an older piece: the War Witch. The original is from 2012; I was watching Feng Zhu School of Design videos all the time then, and my line drawing is clearly influenced by that. I left this drawing untouched, but the "beauty shot" drowned in black and had confusing lighting. I thought it would be good to have it a lot grittier, and so applied loads of filters, from Glowing Edges to Unsharp Mask and Add Noise, to name a few. I also have a better grasp of photo textures today. It's much closer to my original vision now. I would have loved to add plenty of crumpled corpses to her feet, but I didn't have the patience, and I think the point gets across without them too. I also dug up the original blurb that I wrote for this character:

"War witches are among the most fearsome enemies, capable of laying waste to entire counties without effort. Magically armored, and equipped with spell charms as well as "conventional weapons", witches are notoriously hard to bring down. They are, however, naturally aggressive and territorial, so any one army can only afford a few war witches without them tearing each other apart. Their way of rooting themselves into their chosen land's soil and affecting the weather usually means the land can't be settled in later, either, but so far, their effectiveness in battle outweighs the peace-time disadvantages to the generals."
