Really nice sketch card, this is classic Captain Kirk!

Really strong likeness and the background works well with the skin and shirt tones, but although the white dotted highlights work really well on the eyes (and lips on your female portraits), on the hair it kind of looks like someone needs some Head and Shoulders on their toupee. I think next time stop at the rim lighting.

The dude had some really shiny hair back then [link] It looks much more subtle on the original card, though. I can never get these things to scan as good as the original.

Huh. I stand corrected, that reference photo is really showcasing some dewey highlights on that hair (hair like substitute?) so your interpretation is very accurate. I blame it on Aquanet.

Yeah, they hair sprayed the shit out of that wig of his. I should have held back a little because it is hard to do highlights at the size I'm working at without it looking a little like dandruff. The size of this scan is tiny, but the original is even smaller if you can imagine that.
