Sabertoothed tigers? Don't you mean saber toothed cats, or Smilodon?

Sorry, I was just being picky. It's just that sabertoothed tiger is a bit of an incorrect term, since it's misleading and gives the impression that Smilodon was a tiger. No problems, I was just being picky, sorry.

It's alright! LOL I just broke up with my boyfriend and got nasty with his Mum. Forgive me?
I live day by day with Severe Schizophrenia. I'm just tired of the illness and it's affects.
Yelling at you wasn't right.

I'm so sorry, I don't know what to say.
Anyway, it's fine though, you wasn't yelling, I was the one being short with you. Anyway, let's just both agree that this is a spectacular piece of art on an amazing animal, no matter what we choose to call it.

I think the term "saber-toothed tigers", while misleading, is fine to use since it's a common name, not a scientific term. It's like calling Puma concolor a mountain lion. Not really true, but perfectly acceptable as a common name.

True, never thought about it like that before. But it is misleading - if you asked most people with not much paleontological knowledge, they would say that Smilodon was a tiger with big teeth, due to the name. Just the common name saber-toothed cat, while it could include many other species, is less misleading and is entirely accurate. Or better yet, we could just call it Smilodon.
