Description
Palaeoloxodon antiquus, the Eurasian straight-tusked elephant, is a species of large elephantid proboscidean that lived throughout Eurasia during the middle and late Pleistocene, between 780 and 30 Ka (Davies, 2002).
P. antiquus was around 4 m tall and 10-15 tonnes in mass.
Disappearance might be due to climate becoming colder and hunting by humans.
