Description This is a part of my current exhibition "Sofie Richt has Died".

Soon after accepting the proposal of Klaus Venster, Richt tied wedlock in the summer of 1982 in Walbrzych, Poland. The beginning of their new life was shadowed by the tragic death of their bestman, the groom's brother Alfons, in front of the church soon after the ceremony. The married couple left the country when his funeral was over with.

Well, better late than never, right?

Seriously, I'm always surprised when someone comments these old ones. It's not like they're even that old, made not even a year ago, but it feels like AGES

Thanks!

I like how you explore areas where people tend to stay away from.
The color scheme here is just brilliant and so is everything else.
Bravo

Guy standing next to the bride (I assume he's the groom) has to be my favourite. He's holding my favourite bird - a raven (or it could be a crow but I like to believe it's a raven). I love how the bride looks a bit put out by the fact that her special day has been ruined. Classic. This would also make a good print.

I love this style. :<3:
I like the items/animals each person has, like the bear, the shovel, and the Bible.
The Church in the background looks amazing, wonderful perspective!
And I like how you used the dots to line the car. :]
The hat could use a shadow under it, though.
Or maybe I'm being way too picky.

The gravedigger is a simple man who enjoys digging and smoking his pipe. I think he's related to the New Jersey Devils. And he has a cool bear for a friend. He's my favorite guy in this one

I love the fact that his hands are red and there's a dead dude right at his feet, but he's just chilling with a mildly huge bear.

rai-kamishiro In reply to Raskone [2005-08-03 17:17:44 +0000 UTC]

XD I love that reply. it especially fits if he's in with the New Jersey devils crew. Is there a sort of story brewing behind these pictures?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Raskone In reply to rai-kamishiro [2005-08-03 17:28:25 +0000 UTC]

It seems all this connects in my mind somehow. I'll just keep going until I have the whole thing sorted out. The story has already many funny and tragic elements to it. It's a lot of fun coming up with stuff like this. It gives that extra breath of life to the images, without getting too serious in the way because it's so absurd.

"Mildly huge bear" I'm gonna call him that.

rai-kamishiro In reply to Raskone [2005-08-03 17:35:46 +0000 UTC]

Dark Humor, eh? I like stories like that, especially ones that involve suited people that deal in 'solving' things. I like how you have things that are so absurd in a serious setting, that the mildly huge bear doesn't seem out of place.

the building in the background reminds me of the crown on her head in the first.. piece...

at the risk of being far too redundant, i really enjoy yer stuff.
i have no concept of computer art (i use MS paint), but you've got quite a way with it.. it would seem to me.

i like your style too, looks very samurai jack-ish...

I love Samurai Jack. Especially Aku. So cool design on that show.

Oh, and sorry, hasn't happened in real life. In my mind. But Sofie keeps on expanding her story.

skanking-rob [2005-08-02 22:03:39 +0000 UTC]

wow, everything about this appeals to me. First off, I love vector work so I'm drawn to this. Secondly, I love quirky, angular designs so again, you got me there. And I love the use of colour. I always think that red black and white go together brilliatnly. The angle on the church looks great, relly gives a sense of doom. This is a definite fave

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Raskone In reply to skanking-rob [2005-08-03 10:46:46 +0000 UTC]

Right now I'm all about the quirky, angular stuff 'cos I don't have any patience to start constructing anything like Sofie [link] in a while.

And I hope I'm not getting too stuck on the colours. It's just that they've totally consumed my mind or something.

Hey, I really like your art. Your use of blacks and reds is fantastic. I especially like this piece; a close look reveals that what looks like a lamp post is actually a guy standing behind the car. Little stylish details like that make it awesome. Well, with the DD feature and your awesome ideas, you should have no problem becoming huge on deviantart. Best of luck.

Hot shit. I love it. Shadows are great, background's great. Much better than "NEW JERSEY DEVILS." How could you pick such a garbage hockey team to model your art after Keep up the good work.

But just to clarify, my NJ Devils has nothing to do with hockey. A certain HBO show set in New Jersey rather. But the wordplay is there, sure.

You mean the ones on the car?

This was my first piece done in this style, so it's not necessarily that consistent. I don't want to change anything anymore, but I probably will keep the lines solid in the future when doing these series

She's a nurse. I think I'll post a couple of detail images in my scraps, even the big view here doesn't help much in way of small details.

WOW that is amazing fantastic styleisation one crit i have thiough the car has no seats and also could use a gradient on the top and side as it sticks out against the other parts of the drawing but thats a minor thing.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Raskone In reply to im-trying [2005-07-25 09:25:00 +0000 UTC]

Hey, thanks!

You know, I actually had a subtle red matte gradient just like you described but decided against it just before printing. I dunno, maybe I should've kept it anyway. The car seats I left out on purpose as a funny detail. I mean, the inside of the car is just the dirty metal frame with maybe a wooden little bench with no back support, or so I imagined it.

im-trying In reply to Raskone [2005-07-25 10:23:19 +0000 UTC]
