This looks like something you would see in a fantasy film. Is most of Germany like this?
i'm learning german right now, but i don't think i know quite enough to comment you on this picture...except for something like this... Das Foto ist sehr schoen und die Farbe ist geisterhaft. Es gefaellt mir.
I hope that was right.

Danke - alles richtig! Bei Nebel sieht es in Deutschland immer so aus ;]

It's more a question of season and weather. Too bad we didn't get a proper winter this year :[

Great! I was afraid i might've said something a bit incorrect. What is a proper winter in germany?

We used to get some snowflakes as early as November, and at least 2-3 solid weeks of snow, usually in January or February. This year hoarfrost and some sleet was all the frost we got :/ (In the hills of Northern Germany, there must be more snow in the Alps.)

ah. So i hear that the overall weather in Germany isn't very sunny or warm. Is that true?

Depends on what climate you compare it with. Where do you live in the USA? Louisiana is definitely warmer, but I think the Northern/Rocky states are cooler, with harsher winters.
Berlin is about as far North as Calgary, but due to the golf stream, Europe has a much milder climate. In summer, days of more than 30°C (~90°F) are no exception. We often get a sunny and dry spell in May/June, but July and August can be annoyingly rainy

I live in colorado, so that's in the rockies. Last year our winter was TERRIBLE. There was at least a foot of snow on the ground for about 3 months straight. It was awful. but our summers are very nice. there's lots of rain and it gets pretty hott. what i like about colorado is that the sun is ALWAYS shining. It shines about 300 days a year! But the other thing is that it's REALLY dry and the elevation is super high, so sometimes it can make it a bit of a drag to go hiking in the mountains or something. Have you been to the United States.

Wow, I love snow! Gotta move to Colorado
I spend a year in Louisiana, and four weeks of vacation in the South-West, but all I saw of Colorado was Four Corners and the Denver airport ;]
I suppose Colorado has continental climate, German climate is more oceanic, meaning we get milder winters, cooler summers, and more rain than Colorado.

SylverStrike [2006-11-25 14:38:53 +0000 UTC]

Very nice. You've used a comparative of foreground and background effectively, and the limited range of colours really creates a creepy atmosphere.

I like how the dead branches in the picture are the most sharp, most alive looking.

It reminds me of a cold forest....it's a great shot I like that tree in there....its a great shot

I like this one more than the mountains one

Thank you so much for the fav And yes, it was a cold winter morning with snow on the ground. I like this one better, too, but I needed a BW photo for the FOG challenge at =onewordphoto .

AngelHalfie [2006-10-29 03:01:35 +0000 UTC]

It's very gloomy and ohsopretty with that particular shade of blue. The intrusion of the tree in the foreground adds a really nice contrast to the softness of the ones in the back behind the fog. Lovely work!

I like this shot, it looks good. But for some reason (and I can't quite put my finger on it) it looks a little out of balance. Maybe it's the tree so abruptly ending on the right?

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

Ratafluke In reply to Reactor5 [2006-10-29 05:47:45 +0000 UTC]

Hehe, I'm a little confused about right and left now, most of all because the picture looks balanced to me. Anyway, thanks for your comment!

Well, I would have uploaded both versions.... but I'm pleased with how the other photo turned out (getting a fav really helps ;]) so I'm glad I didn't.
