Wow beautiful picture!
I apologize I didnt read ALL of the prior comments seeing as how there are sooooooooooo many, however, when I first saw the pic my instinct was, and still is, to crop the father. But, my style is the afinity to capture the beauty and innocence of the child. It purely depends on what you were going for.
Beautiful shot!!

wow, that picture is incredible. I thought it would be mediocre until i full-viewed it, and the expressions on the faces are absolutely perfect. Sometimes spontaneous is so much better than staged. For some reason, i feel like the father and the child's shadow should not be cropped, but i have a feeling you did it on purpose. Cropping the father makes me feel like he is almost part of the background, but i really feel that he should be more of a compliment to the foreground. But, then again, having him completely in the picture may draw the eye away from the child's as the major focal point, and lord knows we dont that. Maybe crop the father out completely? but i dont really want to lose that either...hmm i seem to get a sense of what decisions you had to make. anyway, i trust your judgement. Not sure your thinking on cropping the boy's shadow. But everything else is perfect
I feel exactly the way you do on being curious about what the future will bring. I could never imagine myself wishing for my death. That is my least favorite thing about this place, the overwhelming majority of people here love to hurt themselves, and view the world in a torturous, depressing light. Although i may not have gone through what they have, that is something i simply cannot relate with. I have gone through my share of hard times, but i find refuge in the world around me, not contempt. I can only hope that i feel the way your grandma did, hoping for my death when it has finally become inevitable. That would make it so much easier. But only time will tell.
Wow i dont know why i wrote such a long comment...odds are you get so many that you probably will never read this...anyways i would love to see what you think of my gallery sometime, but my photography has a completely different feeling/theme to it

This image just breathes life and joy... the wonderful yellows, a perfectly captured moment of happiness. There's even something intriguing to the composition and the way the father is cut enetering the frame.

that's such a lovely, vibrant picture... i guess it speaks even more loudly with the comment.
My grandfather died last october, so I know the loss... but you're right... we just have to keep on living.
I really do like this shot a lot... the warm tones make it even more lively!

sorry to hear mate.
anyway.. before I read your description the title gave me quite another picture... 1 down... 6 billion to go... I thought it was the guy to the right who had buried one kid in the sand and the kid to the left is running away from him, not to be no. 2 of the next 6 billion to go.
very nice picture btw. Lovely warm colours

wat a fantastic image you've captured... i love the whole tone of this picture.. i'm not a photo-term guru.. nor do i know a lot about photography.... but this pictures just really stands out. i love the emotions of the pic.... and you couldn't have cropped it any better than this... heading towards something that you cannot yet see...
even though your grandmother is a loss to the world here... i'm sure she'll be an addition to a better world... beyond ours.
keep your head up... and yes... celebrate your life.

First of all, I'm really sorry about your Grandmother. I know how you feel. And it definitely hurts. Photography is a great way to capture life and express your view in life. You pictures are always amazing. You are definitely one of my favorite photographers on DeviantArt. This picture is just so gorgeous! I love is so much. The lighting, and colors, the yellow tint throughout the entire photo, the detail, and the meaning. It's all amazing. You definitely captured great life. I wish you the best and I hope continue to bring us amazing photos like this one. Great job again.
