Description My dear grandma died 12 hours ago, less than 30 minutes after I left her one last time. One less 'good guy' among us.
I guess its alright. She's wished for this moment for a long period of time. Used to make me feel so sad when she spoke about it. How can anyone, no matter what, wish to have their life taken away. Really makes me sad. Even on my worst days, I'll hopefully never stop being curious about the future....

The photo/snapshot might seem completely detached from this description, its just my way of dealing with it right now. The other "end" of the circle of life; lets celebrate life and the connection between lives.

Thanks for your comments Constructive criticism is appreciated as always.

Wow beautiful picture!

I apologize I didnt read ALL of the prior comments seeing as how there are sooooooooooo many, however, when I first saw the pic my instinct was, and still is, to crop the father. But, my style is the afinity to capture the beauty and innocence of the child. It purely depends on what you were going for.

Beautiful shot!!

wow, that picture is incredible. I thought it would be mediocre until i full-viewed it, and the expressions on the faces are absolutely perfect. Sometimes spontaneous is so much better than staged. For some reason, i feel like the father and the child's shadow should not be cropped, but i have a feeling you did it on purpose. Cropping the father makes me feel like he is almost part of the background, but i really feel that he should be more of a compliment to the foreground. But, then again, having him completely in the picture may draw the eye away from the child's as the major focal point, and lord knows we dont that. Maybe crop the father out completely? but i dont really want to lose that either...hmm i seem to get a sense of what decisions you had to make. anyway, i trust your judgement. Not sure your thinking on cropping the boy's shadow. But everything else is perfect

I feel exactly the way you do on being curious about what the future will bring. I could never imagine myself wishing for my death. That is my least favorite thing about this place, the overwhelming majority of people here love to hurt themselves, and view the world in a torturous, depressing light. Although i may not have gone through what they have, that is something i simply cannot relate with. I have gone through my share of hard times, but i find refuge in the world around me, not contempt. I can only hope that i feel the way your grandma did, hoping for my death when it has finally become inevitable. That would make it so much easier. But only time will tell.

Wow i dont know why i wrote such a long comment...odds are you get so many that you probably will never read this...anyways i would love to see what you think of my gallery sometime, but my photography has a completely different feeling/theme to it

This is beautiful.
The Golden tones transmits me peace and confort like the feeling i had when my grandma use to embrace me.
The joy of the expressions remind me of the laughing days when i was little and stay with her playing at the beach.
And the colors, that colors of old shots we use to see of that people who we just knew old like grandmaΒ΄s, when they were young.
I lost my grandma too and this shot touched me so deep in my heart.
I dont know if this was a constructive comment but was my emotional way talking, and like the shot, and like you said in description, no matter what, we all must have the horizont as a future we need and must to follow.

Thank you so much for sharing this with us
Thank you so much for making me smile and cry at same time.
I miss mine, an this shot made me feel closer

sorry to hear mate.

anyway.. before I read your description the title gave me quite another picture... 1 down... 6 billion to go... I thought it was the guy to the right who had buried one kid in the sand and the kid to the left is running away from him, not to be no. 2 of the next 6 billion to go.

very nice picture btw. Lovely warm colours

wat a fantastic image you've captured... i love the whole tone of this picture.. i'm not a photo-term guru.. nor do i know a lot about photography.... but this pictures just really stands out. i love the emotions of the pic.... and you couldn't have cropped it any better than this... heading towards something that you cannot yet see...
even though your grandmother is a loss to the world here... i'm sure she'll be an addition to a better world... beyond ours.
keep your head up... and yes... celebrate your life.

hey man. Thats rough - but you know theres lots of us here that love and adore you.

And its the bad things coupled with the good things that make us who we are. It may be rough - but something good will come of it. You may not realize it yet - but soon enough you will. I wont say I feel for ya - cuz thats a given. I just hope to at least give some insight that you need to hear. Hope its going ok for you man.

As for the photo - I would say this reflects you more than all your photos combined. I doubt anyone will notice - but this definately is your most raw photo yet. Everything has its purpose and its place. I know you selected and edited with the intention of portraying what you want to portray in the truest form possible.

I appreciate it.

Good luck man - and see you soon.

First of all, I'm really sorry about your Grandmother. I know how you feel. And it definitely hurts. Photography is a great way to capture life and express your view in life. You pictures are always amazing. You are definitely one of my favorite photographers on DeviantArt. This picture is just so gorgeous! I love is so much. The lighting, and colors, the yellow tint throughout the entire photo, the detail, and the meaning. It's all amazing. You definitely captured great life. I wish you the best and I hope continue to bring us amazing photos like this one. Great job again.

The yellow color of the photo gives a sense of warmth and energy...as revealed by the kid running in the picture. The balance of the photo is really inspiring. It's balanced not because the subject is in the center of the frame, but because the two people are at opposite sides, creating a dynamic feeling. Great focus and photographic eye

This is a beautiful photograph. The color is wonderful and the border, in my opinion, also adds a lot to the picture. I think the angle, whatever cropping you did (if any), and the expressions on both the subjects faces and their placement is perfect. The information about your grandmother is not "detached" from the picture at all. Regardless of other people's interpretations, which may not be wholly wrong, they can never override YOUR purpose for taking the picture, and YOUR feelings about the subjects and what emotion YOU were trying to convey. It's an excellent photograph... awesome work.

I'm terribly sorry about your grandmother. I won't go into my family's losses, because I know that may be the last thing you want to hear... but take care of yourself, and take more wonderful pictures like this
