The Hizen class is a heavy airredoubt and the centerpiece of the Shirudan Sky Navy. The bigger cousins of the Kimons, the two classes reflect both the stiff limitations placed on Shirudan military planners by the oppressive Treaty of Lanzarote and the ingenious strategies employed by Shirudan and Hessian engineers. With the Sky Navy largely relegated to a defensive role, Hizens reflect the diffcult situation facing Shirudan military planners. Hizens are largely meant stalk around at low altitude while being coordinated by ground control radars. IRST allow Hizen's to fire without turning on their radars, making them capable of ambushes their theoretical Karelian opponents. Hizen's also possess the most accurate primary armament in the world in the form of its three Kure batteries.

However, this reveals the Hizen's major weakness. Its compact size means several compromises had to made to keep the airship in compliance with the Treaty of Lanzarote. While the Kure is a particularly advanced and effective weapons system, only having three guns on hand is a paltry sum compared to Arcean Vanguard, much less Karelian N1. As such its firing rate is severely limited. The Hizen also lacks the complex radar arrays found on the same contemporary peers, meaning a Hizen without proper electronic warfare support will likely be destroyed before it even knew it was under threat. Finally, lacking the advanced memexs found on airfortresses, Hizen's counterveil capabilities are limited, despite the quality of the Sumika as an anti-air system.

None of these weaknesses are insurmountable however, and if deployed properly, a Hizen can be a serious threat.
