I know this is a pretty old painting, but I like it very much, so I decided to comment anyway. I find the horse-with-a-horn unicorn a bit boring too, and this goat-unicorn is both cool and very beautiful ^^ I would almost wish I wasn't so fond of the deer-unicorns, but maybe I can sneak some goat into them, too.
The eye is very expressive and detailled, I also like the fur around the horn and the mane. Makes it a bit more mythical and not just a goat-with-a-horn. Very good work!
Now I can't get the image of an unicorn eating a cardboard box out of my head xD

"Why I only lay my head it the lap of young ladies? Dresses are so much more delicious!" -Crushes a pearl necklace between it's teeth-
Real unicorns eat clothes. And cardboard.
I think I'm off to create a new character xD

Hee, honestly, it's such a great idea. I imagine goat unicorns are not very well behaved at all.

Goats do have a very cool aesthetic. I like the eye, the beard, and the shape of the face. I agree, I prefer the more mythical image of the Unicorn (antelope legs and cloven hooves, lion tail, goat's beard, etc) than the more recent "horse with a horn" version (I'm not sure where that one came from... it's not like there are any unicorns in Disney movies except a brief glimpse in the Noah's Ark clip in Fantasia 2000).

Goats are lovely. I'd like to revisit the unicorn-in-goat-form again, at some point, and make it a bit more rugged and 'fantastic' (in the mythical sense, not in the complimentary sense).

A unicorn made to resemble a bighorn ram (with those spiral horns) might be impressive, too.

Very nice. I think you and I have the same opinion of unicorns. The medieval goat and lion-based ones are far more interesting.

I've always liked this goatish unicorn, but goatish without the unrealistically...um...slenderized proportions.

Unicorns are traditionally more goat-deer like creatures. I appreciate the fact you didn't go for a "mass media" type of unicorn - I'm sick of those. I approve of original animals, not just horses with a fantasy horn. (I sound bitter, heh)

Great goatish unicorn! I think you did a great job on the colouring - the bluish and purplish tones do well in giving the whiteness more shape.

Eeee awesome! Thanks for this. I found it kind of scary how many people on Livejournal just said 'wait, you mean that goat unicorns are normal?' And said they'd never seen them before. That makes me sad. I love the legginess and petiteness of goat / antelope unicorns.

I used to really like unicorns when I was young, but I have always wanted a goat, so this is the perfect unicorn in my mind.

I <3 goats, they have minus eyes. xD
Actually horses have minus eyes too, if you look closely.
Goats, sheep and deer all seem to be dumb enough to eat anything at the zoo, from the frayed edge of your pants to the map in your hands. xd

Yes, the goat-based unicorn is more appealing in my opinion. Though if you look at mythology, the early unicorns were not horse-like at all, but far more goat-like. ^_^
I really like the coloring on this piece. It gradients wonderfully and has a very irridecsent, magical, glowing feel to it.

It's lovely. I do not think you get a unicorn by sticking a horn on a horse either. They should wear their goatees, cloven hooves and lion tails with pride!
