well when I draw the eye's I make sure that it's clear and it's always good that it has white parts that make it shine and stand out...besides that ...I don't have any more tips...well I joined deviant art so I'll learn more techniques in sketching ..cause I'm also new in sketching...just started to sketch 8 months ago....

I realised is very hard to keep some white bits out in the eye when charcoal is Easily smudged

try using a harder charcoal pencil for details...like some parts of the eyes...
