I'm never sure where to put my characters from The Vong Slayer's Saga ...but, this seems right, if you think about it. Anyway, here's Darth Slashtyrn, founder and leader of the Vong Slayers a group of Dark Jedi who blaze through the galaxy hunting and wiping out any and all remaining Yuuzhan Vong who escaped their race's exile.If you want to know more....read Revolution's Rebirth the first book of The Vong Slayer's Saga.
Anyway, about the pic. I loved how this turned out. I was originally working on shines and shadows on Tymn's shirt and pants but there is just something to be said about solid black...in my eyes, anyway. On top of that, I'm really happy with the way his eyes turned out, as well as the shock of white around his temples. Then there's the cape, which started out as a cheat around the fact that I couldn't get his friggin' right leg to look right and it actually turned out really nice. I'm not too happy with his hands or his left feet, but the decision to go with silver instead of red for the blades helps to maintain the character's core attatchment to the man he once was. On top of the character, I'm pleased with the simple, yet effective background which was inspired by a few of the Star Wars pen&
aper RPG suplements and the Star Wars Gamer covers.Well, that does it for this pic. Other than I drew the pencils with a .05 mechanical pencil and colored right from those with Photoshop 7.

Thank you...I agree, the saber style really fits where I was going to go with Slashtyrn as a Dark Jedi...and I've kind of melded that with some ideas for the TechMage version of him in the revamp of the Revolution's Rebirth story.

I've had this on my "to do" list for awhile, commenting that is but I wanted to make sure I had enough to time to leave a really good opinion. I really like composition, its very simplistic and to the point. The details in the anatomy and the face are really nice, much more improved then some of your latter work. I also like the costume design and the pose you've chosen. The detail in the billowing cape comes across nicely with the opposition of the position of his arms.
My only advice is that your lightsaber blades are not thick enough to match the thickness of the emitter shrouds. The blades themselves are great with respects to the perspective shifts but I would also blur up the harder edge gray drop shadow you've got there, spread it out more to give it a really nice halo effect. Lastly, you need a shadow below him, I know its that stand alone look but still people want to see he's not floating in midair.
The rest of it looks great as usual,

For once, I find myself in agreement with Jamie. This is a sweet peice of work, Rayloth. Keep up the good stuff.
I do question whether Slashtyrn can take the 'Darth' title though, it's strictly a Sith thing, not a Dark Jedi thing, but that's just me nit-picking cuz I'm a fanboy.

You will come to find that Tymn Slashtyrn is a very screwed up and to coin a phrase, torn. Where the silver blades are his attempt to hold onto his former self, his taking the title Darth is his ego's (a great participant in our "hero's" downfall) way of renouncing the Jedi in the ultimate way. So, where as Tymn is not a true Sith, he has taken the title as a way of challenging everyone who might take offense to it. Besides, who would tell him he couldn't?
