Fantastic shot. It has kind of a daunting feel to it.

Ah... I love IRs and this is very cool. Most people only take IRs of scenerys dominated by trees. Nice to see something different

Impressive view! ... hmm.... I'll just it!

Thank you so much... my next IR project will be people (well person... my girlfriend) so not sure how that will turn out, IR and skin!!

I'm sure it will look very fascinating. I'd love to have an IR filter for one of my lenses. Playing with light and shadow is surely fun with an IR filter. Have you ever tried an IR sunrise or an IR sundown???

Raymate In reply to dtobi [2004-07-25 23:19:06 +0000 UTC]

IR can be fun... no not tried sunrise/senset... have done a low sun [link] (it was late in the day, but I called it sunrise) so you could almost call it a sunset... but when I have a good view and the chance I shall try it

i looked at this and before i went full size i said "woah!" to myself out loud. haha.

this is a great image. the colors seem natural but are obviously IR so it is a great effect. good composition and nice building choice.

p.s. thanks for the comment on The Theatre, The Theatre. I hope you got a chance to check out the rest of my gallery.

Thanks you... no it's just a plain old "water tower" we have many like this all over the UK some look very impressive and some are just... horrible. Many of them now are not being used for water storage, people are buying them and converting them into homes... which is very cool

Cheers, need to make sure it works with you camera first as they are not cheap, some digi-cams with just give a red dark image if it don't work.

Ok thanks, although I may not bother afterall as in the last 3 or 4 days I've uploaded a stack of images with no comments on them at all, I'm getting somewhat disheartened all of a sudden.

I must admit I haven't seen much IR photography apart from yours, but from what small amounts I've seen, it looks like you have totally mastered that genre You captured the structure of this water tower beautifully, the border of leaves in the right side works good too, and the dark sky agains the bright tower gives the photo a good contrast too. If you want to reduce the noise in the sky, I can recommend using the free-for-non-commercial-use program Neat Image , it's amasing what it can do, especially if they have a noise profile for your camera

Thanks again, did a great deal of IR so plenty more to go up over the next few months, thank you for that link it looks great but they don’t do a Mac version, the noise I get is a side effect from the IR in my old camera. They do have a profile for my camera to...
