This is amazing! QAQ
I've never used scratchboard. Is it easier?

well it depends. i thought it was easy, but it took forever (tiny strokes)
it starts as a white piece of paper covered in a sheet of black clay and you use a tool to scrape away the clay, so it's kind of in reverse of normal drawing- instead of pressing to add darker marks, you press to show light also you can't press too hard or the paper underneath rips D:

XD I have to try it sometime.
My sister used scratch paper before. She made a picture of a couple dogs.
(And there's no erasing QAQ)

I am trying to learn scratchboard and I can't believe this is your first one! It's so beautiful. Got any points or tips?

oh thank you! Well, I did this for my art class, so I had my teacher to help me. I had a referece pic that i drew first on a seperate peice of paper. i covered the back of the drawing with chalk and layed it chalkside on the sheet of scratchboard. by outlining the pencil marks, i pressed the image onto the scratchboard in chalk that is still erasable but stays long enough for you to scratch out the basic silhouettes. as for the actual scratching, try to avoid scraping too hard and damaging the white paper underneath. try holding the tool at an angel to get a cleaner scrape. Last of all, just be patient- it takes time to get the textures how you want them Hope this helps (and sorry it's so long )

Thank you so much for your thorough response! That was VERY helpuful because I was not aware of how to get the sketch on the scratchboard(I knew that penciling it on directly probably wouldn't work but I was at a loss of how to do it) Keep scratchbaording and drawing I appreciate your work and your talent. Have a wonderful day
