=No-More-Ignorance is holding a contest along the theme of censorship. This is my entry.Censorship has become far too common in the world. Often, parents will try to "protect" their children by not exposing them to the less-than perfect elements of life. Because of this, those children are unprepared for the less-than-perfect world they will grow up to live in.
Instead of censorship, we need education. People need to know exactly what the world has to offer and how they can try to cope with it. We can't totally prepare our children for the world but we can educate them and I think that's what we need to do.
I did this at my grandparents' house so I didn't have much to work with. I did the best I could.

This reminds me of an article I read in the newspaper, in the international section (so the tinyest piece of news in as little words as possible) originally from German news apparently:
about an American sgt. being prosecuted for torturing and murdering Iraqi citizens.
and nothing about that anywhere else, online, on TV, or in the rest of the newspaper.

Education IS protection.
When something is not talked about or kept secret the appeal is so much greater. And if it's something you're trying to protect your children from... well, you're doing them a great disservice.
