A bodyscape is a close-up of a nude body where the skin is like a landscape.Β It doesn't show the whole figure, and the body is depicted in an abstract way.

Phracker, what a pedant! Of course this is a bodyscape. A bodyscape's focus is singularly on the body, whether partial or whole, and skin tonalities, in such a way to create an interesting topography/geometry. This qualifies.

I thought that was the definition of figure art.Β I read somewhere that the difference between a portrait and a figure is that the former depicts someone's personality whereas the latter focuses on the body without regards to the person who inhabits it.

I think I largely agree with that...I would further distinguish a portrait as depicting an *individual* person whereas figure studies can be more than just the form of the body, but also about body language.Β
