Is this is truly wonderful short. It works perfect in the colour spectrum selected Which I suspect was shot in full colour then split into colour channels in photo shop. The position of the dancers is dynamic not only in its pose, but also the chemistry between dancers. one could interpret the male dancers gaze in a variety of ways.from lust to total concentration. while the woman looks totally in full concentration. This woks because the are
not looking in the same plane;-brillant.
the Lighting is very clever the main dark tones are on the dancers, creating a focal point the middle of the picture, totally ignoring the2 3rds rule and it works . Eyes dart around picture .by using the parallel bars and window frame with the light shinning through but not so much as to put the dancers in siouett.
Fantastic work - lindsay
please excuse the bad spelling - i have bad dyslexia

One of amazing things which catch my eye here (aside from the way their two bodies merge into one continuous, integral form, AND the perfect timing of your exposure) is the way they have turned their faces. They communicate the tension between their emotions, both heads turned, but at just slightly different angles, forming a perfect arc in their gaze.
We forget that dance is also acting. The most perfect form in the world would mean nothing if their eyes weren't in it.
Beautiful shot, Randall!

Well observed "Observer"! So true. Dancers talk about dancing their parts with integrity, even if they are in the back row of the corp. They say that someone in the audience is going to have their eye on you. It's wonderful that Rosselyn and Raymond carried that dedication even into the practice studio for me. Lucky me!

That's a story I think sounds interesting... a forward spotter in the military? A poll watcher?
Thanks again for the compliments on the image!

A wise old artist used to say: dance is a moving sculpture. I think your photograph reflects very well the idea. Love the focus and the grisaille. An excellent result.

Thank you so much clairobscura.... love the metaphor you shared.... I might equally say that (good) sculpture is frozen dance.
Welcome to DeviantArt by the way!
