Description The second in a series of Native American portraits.

This one took around 10 hours to complete- spaced out over several days.

Once again, it is drawn from an actual photograph currently in the Smithonian archives and consumed a large portion of my drawing pencil.

Wow, just wow. I just read today about the history and columbus and the discovery of "India" which was actually amercia and so on, and the stories od the people who already lived here. I felt really sad about how it went. But even as a kid I set there and was just fascinated by sitting bull for instance.

Hi There!
You have just earned yourself an O.D.D. feature ! congrats!
ODDS (oibyrd's daily deviations) are to honor the sometimes overlooked artists of dA that I personally think deserve some exposure (and ALSO, to show off people who I think are undeniably talented in their own genre of art, REGARDLESS of their #'s of fav's or pageviews. I like what I like and sometimes artwork isn't featured in the regular DDs because it's popular all on it's own It's a shame, but the admins are only trying to be fair! ). Please click the link below to see your work featured and to view other featured artists . If you prefer not to be a featured artist, just send me a note and I will remove you from the list. Cheers! Sandi xoxo

Wow. This is a very powerful piece. How many years did it take for you to master drawing like this? What is your favorite brand of pencils? What kind of paper did you use? Do you know of any websites online that have pictures of Native Americans or maybe the prairie/American West?

This is awesome sketching and shading work.

what the hand dare seize the fire?
