Description Something a little different.

The ref photo demanded to be painted as soon as possible and this is what resulted. I tried something a little different with the color and took a looser, messier approach to the painting. I think I'll stick with my usual method for painting more conventional horses, but this was a fun style to try out. And yes, I know that the mane and tail are missing. I like the clean lines and thought the messy mane and tail might mess it up. They might be added at a later date.

The colors really caught my eye ~ they remind me so much of the Northern Lights! You've done a marvelous job with blending them and the horse's anatomy looks spot-on! Awesome work!

i like it! i'd support the starving artist but i as well am starving. this is very different, and the lack of a mane and tail make it stand out. beautiful!

I use a 4x6 Wacom Bamboo Fun. It's small and cheap, but it gets the job done.

If you can get a tablet for cheap and it works, then who cares if it is small xD

I assume that you can draw straight lines easily then? (Well easier than an A4 anyway) I have real trouble just getting them anywhere near nice and smooth >.>

Exactly! Although I still drool over the Intuos.

And actually, I can't draw a straight line to save my life. I have heard that people will tape sketch paper over their tablet surface which increases the friction and makes it easier to draw smoother and neater lines. I have tried it and it seems to work pretty well, but my tablet is scratched up and that makes for some ugly bumps when I try the paper method. =silverglass19 suggests blowing up your image to 200% before doing the lineart and then resizing it to the proper size afterwards. Maybe try a combo of the two?

Sorry to ramble. I love talking about that sort of stuff, lol.

No probelm! I am happy to hear ramblings - when it is something I want to hear about, or I like xD

There are a few scratches on the one I have, it was given to me, so I am DEFINATELY not complaining It saved me money that I don't usually have xD

Blow up to 200. Hmm, I should try that. I did try going out to 50%, but that was worse... I then didn't try going closer thinking it would be the same result xD Silly me

As for the paper... I wouldn't know where the screen would be then The whole -screen up there but drawing down here- I haven't quite grasped yet. Hehe.

Haha, that's the hardest part, I think. One of my friends just got a tablet and he's having a lot of trouble grasping that too. Of course, he wants super awesome masterpieces from the first, so he's going to be sorely disappointed. XD
