Description After Halloween, the twinks head back to their tour through ancient Greece and commemorate Spirit Day. I wanted to upload this ON Spirit Day but I had to wait until the magazine was published.

the actual ruler of Athens at the time was his brother Hippias, & was a good ruler before the plot. Hiparcus held only the face of power

I love this series. Will you be doing Achilles and Patroclus or Alexander the Great and Hephaestion?

I might at some point. But those are pretty well documented examples by now. I wanted to go with the much lesser known stuff. But I'm sure I'll get to them at some point.

Did you know that there was also a large band of warriors (in Rome I think) and they were all homosexuals (in fact I don't think you could be in their army if you weren't). They died fighting to the last man and were commemorated with a statue because the ruler at the time was so moved by their bravery and sacrifice. Whatever happened to that respect of people as human beings? I blame the Puritans.

It was called the Sacred Band of Thebes and it consisted of gay couples and it was in ancient Greece (not Rome...... got that wrong, my bad). There were 300 of them (hmmm, sounds familiar) and the statue erected in their honor still stands today in the city and is known as the Lion Monument. You should watch Terry Jones: Surprising History of Sex (that's where I saw them referenced for the first time). All the stuff they never told you in history class will blow your mind!

Yep. I'm well acquainted with the Band of Thebes. was planning on getting to them at some point but took a break from the series. And i'm trying to jump around more in the time stream, not just go linear.
The Band of Thebes was actually the greatest and most successful fighting force ancient Greece ever produced until they were wiped out by the vast armies of Alexander the Great's father, who erected that statue in their honor.
And yes...I also blame the Puritans. But the first stones were thrown by very early Christianity as soon as it took power over the Roman Empire, when they made sex between men punishable by public execution by fire.

I guess Paul wasn't happy unless he was persecuting someone.

Wouldn't it be pendulously heavy with irony if it was a Republican who gave everyone equality . . . Cool presentation, there . . . !

The twink's expression (the blondie on the left) reminds me of Pajama Sam.

People who wore purple back in ancient times were considered royalty, because purple dye was very expensive.
