Description
Godzilla the (cartoon) vs.The Seaweed Monster. I had on planned on doing most of the painting in Photoshop but because my computer was acting "funky" I had to use markers too. Anyway The Seaweed Monster is one angry Kaiju!
and Godzilla is in for a heck of a fight...Godzilla the animated series created by Hanna-Barbera Productions and Toho

Is that a good thing? Me personally, I think Biollante is awesome but to be fair I think the Seaweed monster is a powerful design on its own. I mean really, besides both being plant creatures their both pretty different. Β

I thought all the Kaiju from that cartoon were weak an unintimidating. I've seen him before now that I think about it but I didn't know that he was a biolante!

Usually I save my critique for KMAC submissions until the end and get everyone done at the same time........but....considering you were really the only person that entered this time I guess I can leave it here lol
This one blew me away really. It just captures the feel of the show and ups the game. Godzilla looks way more muscular and not nearly as fat. And the Seaweed Monster just looks so menacing. I loved the fact that you made his size that much bigger than him. Considering he is like Hedorah and could indefinitely keep growing bigger. Green is oftentimes a very difficult color to work with. Either you get it too fake looking and rich....or you get it too bright and it just turns into a puke like color. But you manage to pull the color off really well. It looks really amazing on him. I think having the black shading in the water also helped out a lot by getting some much needed darks in this. Otherwise the piece would probably be way too intensely light.
All in all it is an awesome job

Yep, me too. I had one, but just lost track of time and actual passion for it. Started inking it and I just was not feeling it at all. But it looks like the Q one is off to a good foot with 2 submissions. Hope to see your take on the monster by the end of the month

Surprisingly well thought out after watching it again.Β Still packed full of the usual H-B wackiness like Godzilla eye lasers (Ughh..) But the solution to the problem made a great deal of sense.Β

Between the Angry Jowls & Brows, upraised monster mitts and sheer amorphous mass, that is pure Hanna-Barbera plant-beast. Your take on their Godzilla design also seems about as sharp as it ever was onscreen-especially nice definition on those long strong meathooks.

Thanks so much! This one was hard to do...I have at least 12 different seaweed monster sketches, he keep looking more "looking gooey" and Godzilla looking more humanoid. Are you going to have a entry in this KMAC?

Yep, Im trying to wrap my head about the "biology" of something made of seaweed. How does it "see" why would it have a mouth, that sorta stuff cause as you my guess from my previous entires Im doing a Revamp.
