Description Ten years ago today Disney's Atlantis: the Lost Empire came out in theaters. The movie greatly affected my life. Because of the film, I made lasting friends, learned to draw the human form, had my interest in Disney really re-ignited and I even lost weight. It's been creative fuel for years and will always be a love of mine.

Time always has a habit of getting away from me. I'd hoped to actually get a full-color epic piece done. I didn't get the time. (I feel slightly better knowing that a cosplay from something else I started in early March is STILL unfinished...) However, last weekend, I made a random decision. James Arnold Taylor, the voice actor for Milo in the sequel, Atlantis: Milo's Return, was attending Star Wars Weekends here in Disney's Hollywood Studios. Though I'd met him the previous weekend, through a lot of chaos and lack of sleep I'd managed not to bring something for him to sign for myself. So I planned on going back and getting my copy of the sequel finally signed. Besides, he was a really nice guy, I sure didn't mind meeting him again.

And then I decided I wanted to give him something. He was an integral part of realizing the stories of Atlantis, after all, and would have been part of Team Atlantis had the series not been scrapped. So I decided to stay up later than I should and draw him a picture (which is why the coat here is the sequel version and not the original coat). It's a little off-model, un-inked, and uncolored, but the best I could do with the time I had. And Mr. Taylor really seemed to like the sketch, saying he wanted to frame it! My sister said that it may have been a role he really enjoyed that just doesn't get much attention. (This could be supported by the fact that Atlantis is prominently featured at a brief point during his show at Star Wars Weekends.) I'm really glad I scanned the sketch, now.

So no epic movie poster piece. But considering the memory I gained less than a week ago, I think I can live with that.

This is great! Not only the drawing , but your artists comments.... The amount of feeling you have for the film is really refreshing, it's nice to see fans like you, it makes one feel not so alone!

You went to Star Wars Weekends too!?? All though I went to the ones last year and that was it. Where is Atlantis mentioned?? That's really cool that you gave James Arnold Taylor a sketch of yours! I dunno about me but that's gotta take some confidence , not to mention some innards!

Yay Milo! That movie was pure epicness and ramains one of my favorite Disney movies to this day. Nice tribute, Nash. ^^

Weird, I didn't know a different voice actor did Milo for the second movie. They sounded just the same, which means he must have done a good job! ^^

Very, very nice! I haven't seen your Atlantis work in years! (If I recall correctly, you were one of the most prolific artists in the fandom.)

That's really cool about James Arnold Taylor. I'm a huge, huge Clone Wars fan and he, and the rest of the cast in general, seem like very nice people. They really interact with the fans from what I've seen online. (I've always hated Atlantis 2, but I think it would be funny to watch it again with the realization that Milo is really Obi-Wan!)

I hope to see more Atlantis art from you again in the future.

(If you're wondering, I used to go by "Mindscapes" before I deleted my old page.)

Julie? And you were a rather prolific writer.

Yep, I drew nothing but M&K back in the day.

They interact with people online? Well that's pretty darn awesome. Yeah, he's a really nice guy. (I watched AMR today and wow... Yeah, as a sequel it was bad. A friend and I MST3Ked it today. Cut up into the individual episodes, it's pretty obvious most of the problems were the filler. Would have made a really fun series, though, and JAT did a nice job! So I'll do what I did the last 8 years. Think of it as 3 TV eps.)

Yep, that's me! Though these days, I write mostly Star Wars. (I'm nearing the end of story three in an epic AU trilogy that I started back in 2005. This particular story has been taking me around three years to write.) I did do another Atlantis story back in September 2009.

I know James Arnold Taylor and Catherine Taber (voice of Padmé) do a lot of videos and interviews together and I believe they both have Twitter accounts and talk directly to their fans. Ashley Eckstein (voice of Ahsoka) created a whole fashion line for women of just Star Wars apparel (Her Universe) and interacts with her fans on her messageboards. And all three of them appear at almost all the Clone Wars related events. I've never heard of voice actors being so open with their fans before. It's really neat.

Too long, actually. I was rusty. My style's changed since I drew him last other than doodles in my pocket sketchbook. Wow, you were six? I was 17! I had no clue you were that young. That's pretty cool you were in the fandom so young. I hope to do more fanart, I just don't know when. Funny thing about growing up. The older you are, the less an amount of time seems to be. I remember when I was little an hour was an eternity. Now weeks fly by, and you wonder when you'll get the time to do things. It really makes me wonder how Kida perceives time.

Maybe you'll get to meet him someday! He's a really nice guy!

HAPPY TENTH ANNIVERSARY!
