Never even thought about it before but dang Shiro having many more scars under his clothes makes so much sense.... Gladiator and all..... I really loved how they showed him having legit PTSD when he had to navigate the halls of a Galra ship again. I hear all the time about real veteran soldiers: some scars, no one can see.... And Shiro's clearly full of both kinds.....
I hope in the next season they cover more of Shiro's upbringing back on Earth. IMO one reason this guy comes across like a robot is because his origin is unknown to us, so we just assume it was ordinary/perfect/featureless. I.e. a well-raised kid with good grades, no family complications, and so forth.... [Having never seen any of the original Voltron shows,] I almost wonder if there was some truth to his D&D story about his whole old life being burned to the ground, his teacher/father-figure slain, and starting over again from scratch as a student at the Garrison.... And that's why he felt a big-brotherly connection with Keith: Shiro knew exactly what it was like to wind up alone at that age??
