Healing My HeartI thought a day like today would never come
When a sincere smile finally broke through
And I've grasped onto this sense of freedom
When I forged this connection with you
I was so deep into it
Thinking I never would get out
Being stuck in the past has made me into this
But now I hold my head up instead of facing down
Because of this, I've realize there's a difference between my tears
I used to only shed the ones for all of the mistakes I've made
Which I've criedΒ Β for all of those long, and lonesome years
Until today, so I'm overwhelmed by the relief you gave
Undone, unvexed, unbroken
The difference is the forgiveness
Unbecome, unsilenced, unforgotten
The pieces have become painless

I waited for a night like tonight to arrive
When I could finally sleep so peacefully
And for once I have never felt so alive
When I found myself dreaming faithfully
I had no choice but to force my own hand
So I took that mass of hurt and made it my own
I'm going to stand up in front of fear, so here I am
And I know that I am no longer facing all of this alone
All I needed was someone like you to stand beside me
The strength you have given will always be remembered
And your unmatched kindness is true to quality over quantity
So is the hope that you radiate through every single one of your words
Untorn, unashamed, uncaged
I wear these countless scars as my new armor
Unsworn, unburdened, unchained
You're healing my heart, so I can only get stronger

Lol, aww, well you're too kind to say it like that. I don't deserve that much credit. I've only been writing for about 5 years, but I've dedicated these last two years to get better. The earlier years aren't worth mentioning. But it's the base of everything.

It was a long time coming for this piece. I'm just glad to have finally gotten it out of my system. I won't be plagued by the words that were rhyming in my mind. Now it's out for everyone to read and perceive as they will.

Hm pretty much built up I suppose with many things put into it? Well I know how that feels when trying to get the rhymes that that are....utterly sublime? Still you did a pretty great job on this as it expresses so much and genuinely can be percieved in many similiarly different ways

This is completely amazing. I love the flow and the words. The word choices and the way that it is almost song like. I can almost feel like it is being sung. The song reference is not one I am familiar with but I do know some Linkin Park songs. Very nicely done.

Rhythm is something I really work on hard, when I do a poem, so I'm glad it was of to your liking.
Oh, and yes, the Linkin Park song "Blackbirds" is one of their like B-side tracks. It almost made it on the thousand suns album but didn't quite make the cut. It's a really good song, you'd probably like it.

You are very welcome. Everyone has their own thing that is their strength on their poetry. Mine is the strength of emotions on my poetry. As for Linkin Park I haven't listen to any probably new stuff in ages. One of my favorites of theirs is My December.

There are a few others that I like but I can't even remember them offhand it's literally been a long time since I have heard of them but you mentioning them reminded me of them again. Maybe I'll check out the new CD
