Ooh, crane war - that's a new take on it that I haven't heard before.
Glad you like it! Thanks!

What a strange piece sure it is beautiful but still, rather odd, though, of course, strange pieces are much more interesting. The work on the crane, girl and boat definitely tie directly in with the title, a clear indication of the bizarre event. As for the design, the long flowing hair of the girl blending into the water is great, as is that perfect stride of the Crane, works with the pleasant water and collection of petals. Great work Red Clover, love it.

I like the title. It could either mean, "The Crane's Captive," as in, it's his captive, or "The Crane is Captive."

Another interpretation: a Goddess who had taken a mortal lover, who died (as mortals do); now, as she travels back to her own realm (the Crane is her servant and representative in the mortal world), she meditates on the bittersweet nature of love.... 7@=e

I love the way her hair is floating in the river.
She's the crane princess in human form, and her father is taking her back home because he doesn't want her to marry the human she loves.
He'll have to go on a sort of journey to get her back and win the respect of the crane king.
Also, said human is a farm or peasant boy.

Pictures are worth a thousand words, but each person sees a different set out of those one thousand. It's really cool, and it's what makes caption contests work so well.
You're welcome~

This is a very nice piece and I think that all the colors go well together, wouldnt change a thing. Great detail, you can almost hear the cranes footsteps and the flow of the water against the little boat. And yes Cranes are lucky.
