Description
In New York City, the Clench pandemic had filled hospitals to the brim with patients, either suffering from the disease or crucially injured due to the breakdown of society leading to massive rioting and looting. In one of the patient rooms of a hospital in Manhattan, we see the comatose body of one Oliver Queen, a vigilante and member of the Justice League known as the Green Arrow. Months ago, he was in Colorado investigating the presidential pardon of criminal conspirator Amanda Waller. At her cabin in the woods, Queen was interrogating Waller when a masked assassin attacked them both. Waller was murdered and Queen was left critically injured and had to be placed into a coma. Queen was originally in the medical wing of the Watchtower, the headquarters of the JL, but he was moved to this NYC hospital when a civil war broke out over the identity of Waller’s killer and the Watchtower was shut down. However, Oliver Queen possibly got a good look at the identity of the killer, so he’s the one who can end the civil war…
Oliver finally awoke from his coma this day, rising with a shock, thinking he’s still in the thick of a battle with the assassin. Doctor Pieter Cross, the civilian medical expert recruited by Superman’s side of the civil war, noticed Oliver waking up (though Dr. Cross is blind), and tried to calm him down. He explained to Oliver that he’s been in a coma for some months, moved here by his team. His Green Arrow costume and equipment are safe in the basement of the hospital. Oliver demanded to speak to the JL about what happened with Amanda Waller, but Dr. Cross explained that the JL had broke up due to internal conflicts. He handed the JL communicator over to Oliver and told him to call Superman about it…
Meanwhile, in Washington, DC, another quarantined city, an orb of light appeared on the city streets and a human shape began materializing from it. A man in technologically-advanced armor emerged from the orb of light and looked at himself with a shock. The man was accosted by several looters and they attacked him, but he fought back and bested them with superhuman strength and combat ability. He pulled from his suit a disc that transformed into his flight harness and he flew off. He returned to the ruins of the Fortress of Solitude in the Arctic, and found no signs of the Justice League. He flew off again. “If I’ve returned to existence, that must mean he is returning soon, if not already,” the man thought to himself, “I must return to Genesis. The Highfather will not help me, still, but he may know where to find the Justice League now…”
Meanwhile, with Superman, he and his side of the civil war were at the “House of Secrets” in Louisiana, where they set up base while dealing with both Batman’s side of the civil war and the Clench pandemic. On the telecommunications monitor they set up, the team received a signal from Green Arrow’s communicator. Oliver Queen talked to Superman and learned what had transpired while he was in a coma. Oliver said that he got a good look at the unmasked face of Waller’s murderer… she looked like Cassandra Kane! Except… her face was damaged in the fight and it looked like a robotic jaw beneath she skin! It was some kind of cyborg duplicate of Cassandra, which means the real Cassie was framed by someone. They need to tell Batman this and end the- !
That’s when the door busted down! It was Orion! Returned from non-existence, Orion had flown across the planet to find the Justice League, or what remains of them. All he has to say to them, at first, was this:
“Uxas is returning!”
