Bah. Some of you might have already gotten a sticker from me. Or remember the chibi Nightfall from my journal .

Sorry if there're any mistakes etc, I was quite tired. Not that anyone would use that tutorial anyway. |D" I made it randomly.

Oh, but this tutorial pretty much explains how I make stickers and even though its quite old, the method didn't change that much... :0 Why would you want another tutorial? Is there something more you think needs explaining (I'd be happy to help, but I need to know with what first)?

I just started yesterday. I want to know what kind of tools can you and how to laminate ?

You can use basically whatever tools you wish - I used markers, but it can even be coloured pencils or watercolors or anything. You could also print them out if you prefer to create things digitally. Anything will do, as long as you secure it with some kind of varnish or laminate.

For laminating I currently use a self-adhesive transparent book cover foil, which took me some time to find (I don't even know how to properly name it. Here, it's something like this: www.ebay.com/itm/CLEAR-Transpa… ). If your stickers are small, however, you can just use a wide sotch tape and stick it over the picture (it may change colour over the years though and become yellow-ish). Generally, when you use some kind of an adhesive laminate for this, you should put it over the sticker before you cut it out from the background.

I hope I helped a bit

I recommend clear nail polish rather than varnish. It worked well, AWESOME TUTORIAL!

Good for you, I tried nail polish once and it turned out terrible. :'3 But it may depend on how the whole sticker's made or something, I'm not sure. xD
I currently use self-adhesive book covering for my stickers and it's perfect, also for bigger ones.

Still, I'm glad I could help! You're very welcome.

Ah, thank you so so much for making this tutorial~
Thanks to this, I was prompted to make my own traditional stickers and I knew what varnish was~

I use an ink pen for my line art and when I cover with varnish, the line art smears horribly.
...Maybe I should try to find a thin perm. marker to make line art with~

Have fun making your own~!

I personally use Faber-Castell Ecco Pigment (like this one [link] ). It's thin, permanent and should be more resistant to varnish. Microns would probably do as well...

Obecnie nie smaruję, tylko przyklejam szeroką przezroczystą taśmę klejącą.
(tamten lakier nie dawał dobrego połysku, a nowego jeszcze nie obczaiłam)

Where did you buy the double sided tape? I can't find anything that's under 200 dollars. -__-

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RedAkai In reply to CyanideEcstasy [2012-05-11 08:10:50 +0000 UTC]

What? HOW? D:
Umm, I usually buy the double-sided tape at the stationer's... I once bought one in Tesco... sometimes you can find it at DIY stores also, that's the 5cm wide strong tape for carpets (the one I usually use).
I don't know what about the US, but here in Poland it costs about 5pln and that would be approx. $1,50... o_O;

Hi, this is just a question, but is there any way you can use double sided tape? Mine is thick but too thin. I can't buy the sticky paper you used. Thanks.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RedAkai In reply to Chamst [2012-05-01 11:28:30 +0000 UTC]

Oh. Umm. I'm sorry, but I don't really get your question. I'd gladly help, if you could rephrase it, please.
I do use a double sided tape. It is very thin, but also very wide (almost 5cm). I can tell you where you can buy it in Poland, but I don't think this would be of any help to you... '

Niooo . A mam pytanie ten varnish, to znaczy lakier, ale jaki lakier? Chodzi o szczegóły.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RedAkai In reply to DarkTiger-ex [2012-06-07 15:08:30 +0000 UTC]

Jeśli będę mieć czas, ochotę i pieniądze to kiedyś może jeszcze poeksperymetnuję z innymi lakierami, obecnie wiem dokładnie tyle, co przeciętna osoba, czyli nic. xD

(dobra, przezroczysty lakier do paznokci też odradzam. Stanowczo)

Please help me out..

I wanna create a vinyl-style-sticker that i can stick on say...bikes...

I'm creating these stickers on Photoshop...

How much dimension (canvas) should i be working on so that the stickers are crisp and not jagged at the curves?!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RedAkai In reply to RashikRave [2012-01-05 15:04:14 +0000 UTC]

Umm, it depends on how you're gonna print these... it's best if you make them in some high resolution, at least 150 dpi. If you're using Photoshop you just need to define the resolution and then set the canvas size in centimetres to as big as you want your sticker printed. You don't need to worry about the size in pixels...

Instead of varnish, I either use 'gloss,' or I just get a big piece of pacing tape and cover the whole sticker with it, the cut it out.

how do you do the whole taping thing? i get the double sided tape concept, but what do you use to keep it from sticking to stuff before you wan it to?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RedAkai In reply to RyuzakiLivesOn [2011-12-10 11:07:49 +0000 UTC]

The double-sided tape is covered with a protective foil at one side. Until you remove the foil it's sticky on one side only, just like a regular tape.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RedAkai In reply to RyuzakiLivesOn [2011-12-13 08:42:04 +0000 UTC]

Usually at stationer's, or some kind of DIY shop (apparently they use it to stick carpets to the floor).
