that's not entirely true, the spit didn't have the range for raids deep into Nazi held areas, but it can reach parts of France

Yeah, Calais, and maybe Caen, but nowhere else but the coastal region.

True. But no American plane is a fighter, really. The '51 and the '38, and even the P-47 is fast, but it has no turning capacity for German fighters. All American planes were boom n' zoomers, fast, big guns, and skilled pilots who could aim very well. The REAL dogfighting happened between the Brits, Russians, and the Germans. In the pacific the only real dogfighting was practiced by the Japanese. American carrier planes only had speed advantages in late-war. In the early-war, Wildcats had to work together, they couldn't dogfight with the zero.

interceptors, you mean. and the hellcat could out turn the zeros, besides the p47 is a juggernaught in the plane world, big engine, plenty of firepower and tougher then any other plane in ww2

The hellcat could not outturn a zero. The hellcat was faster, more durable, and was loaded with incendiary rounds. They considered every weakness of the zero when designing the Hellcat. And when proper tactics are used, you can effectively take down a zero.

really? huh i thought the corsair was the one who could outrun a zero and the hellcat could outturn it and both had far heavier armor, and self sealing fuel tanks

Both can outrun the Zero. It was outmodded by the end of the war, and it's engine couldn't go any further in terms of speed. All American planes had self sealing fuel tanks. Those things practically eat bullets!

A classic example of "I may have lost the battle, but the war still wages on!" Very beautifully done. Say, is that a zero, the one that shot at the P40 and about to get his a** blown up? LOL

Had to shoot down the good guys eh?

Anyways I like it a lot, real cool looking and I love the fire curling up and under the plane.

I like the perspective and details in it. Great job overall but i think it needs more smoke from the damaged engine (though it probably would obsure the picture to much). Cheers!
