Yes its a paper model, i should have used cardstock though. This has since been resined and fibreglassed and now feels more like hard plastic

This is amazing, I can't wait to see the final product. Just in paper this already looks so amazing! Will you ever put up the PDF's for this?

Thank you, turned out pretty well but a few rough areas im not too happy with. Hoping to fix them in the bondo stage. I dont have them in PDF form nor do i know how to change them into it, only in .PDO file. Any of these files you want you should look on the 405th forum: [link] I got this file from there and many others as well. There may be some PDF formats there too i dont know. Better to use the files in the Pepakura programs as you can scale them correctly (the programs are free) match up the parts easily etc. If you cant get them for whatever reason then you'd need to look around to try find PDF versions of them. The forum specialises in Halo so theres plenty files out there

Yeah, I've used Pepakura before. Thanks a lot - that's a shame you don't like it, it looks beautiful to me. +fav'd and +watch'd

If you have pep then the pdo files are much easier to work with than pdf's. Loads of files out there especially for halo but loads of other stuff on the forum too. I have a list of things im going to be making. I do like it im just not happy with a few bits that didnt work out right though maybe i rushed them a bit. Learned a few things since then, use a small amount of glue per tab and glue one tab at a time so each can be lined up perfectly. Waiting on my fibreglass cloth coming in the post before i can take things to the next step

Ahh, alright. I've been lurking the 405th for a while now, but I've been speculating whether I should try or not - it looks like so much work and I don't think I have the patience for it, hah.
I guess I'll get started, thanks for the help man.

Ahh, I agree. I'm working on a suit at the moment (still in the scaling phase), and I can't wait to pepakura. It's been a hobby of mine as long as I can remember.

Yeah, scaling was a huge issue for me too. Over 6 feet tall and I have a small waist as well - I ended up just leaving the opening around the waist a bit smaller than intended - the point of the armor is to have you look bulky, right? Try scaling it, and then making the openings smaller/larger, to accompany your body type.

Your height isnt such a worry though as scaling things up making the height longer wont be such as issue as it is for me cause im short. I have the opposite problem lol, short but not skinny so scaling things up encounters problems. I use the default sizes 99% of the time but on chest armor, belts etc they are too small for me so i have to scale up. The openings arent really a huge problem, once you go through the hardening stages you can easily increase their size using a dremel or equivalent rotary tool. Its the chest width inside the armor itself that concerns me. Apparently the gears armor is 'massive' inside so hoping that one wont be a problem, the opening itself i can just dremel out til i can get it on. Im going to make the belt as well but cant really tell the actual scale of it going by the assembled size info in pep so will be trial and error scaling up til it fits. Not much to that piece so i dont mind having to remake it if i have to
Normally the armor itself looks bulky (gears especially looks huge) but the openings tend to be narrower so that shouldnt be a problem for you. I just need to try things out and hope that they work without having to remake them

Oh god you're doing the GOW armor. It is ridiculously huge, forewarning. But you have a lot of room in there to put padding, or whatever else you'd like, which is a really nice change of pace from trying to fit your padding in the couple inches of space you have in spartan armor. If that's your only problem, you should be just fine!

Huge is good lol. I was concerned by chest size since alot of armor seems to be scaled to skinny people, the HEV suit chest plate appears to be scaled to 38" chest (i wear xl in t-shirts so around 46-48" chest) so that has been concerning me with the chest armor pieces i want to make. If the gow armor is huge then hopefully it will fit fine without even having to scale it up. Someone on 405th advised me to try a 10% scale increase but if default would fit me then i'll just leave it. I dont really care if its too big, that can be fixed with padding, too small cant be. Thats my problem yeah, gow sounds it might be ok but i dont think the HEV suit will fit me and need scaled up, that brings the problem of increasing the height of the armor and making it way too big. Not sure what to do with that.. The gears armor in game makes them look huge so i suspected the pep would be too but just how big i cant tell til i see it in person. Problem is once its built up its hard to try it on without ripping the paper so i'd really have to wait til after its hardened to be able to test it out for size (dremel the opening if necessary to get it on)

Yeahh, I really hate the fact that you have to harden it BEFORE YOU CAN EVEN WEAR IT - a real downer. I'd just do 5%, since it's bulky to begin with. And like you said, if it's too big, you can work with it to make it fit.

Yeah its really annoying. Some pieces are fine, i managed to get this on with it being just paper but only just. The chest piece i'd probably rip so best to harden it first to be sure its ok. I'll either leave it at default or do a small 5% scale increase. Not sure which armor to use now, i was going to use Carmine's pep file but the front on it doesnt look quite right, Marcus's has the right front look im wanting. However the back on his isnt right as its different from the standard cog armor so im not sure if i can somehow split the 2 files and have the front of Marcus's joined with the back of Carmine's to get what im wanting. The scale on the 2 is slightly different with Marcus's being slightly bigger. Then again i could just do Carmine's and modify the front once bondo'd etc using probably foam. Not sure yet and until i decide i cant get it printed off. Also need to decide whether to leave the scale default and hope it fits or up it slightly, though 5% wont make a huge difference anyway other than making some pieces go over 2 pages
I started a build thread on 405th if you want to see the other things i've made as of now: [link]
Going for a slight custom take on it, want the shoulders (light units) from Marcus's armor and also his codpiece though rather than silver i'd paint it black/blue to match the rest of the armor. Also going to make the gnasher at some point just not sure how to strengthen weapons yet with the insides being hollow..
