Thank you very much for reading and taking the time to care.

Yes, there are a lot of 'young ones' but there are actually lots of us as well It's a truly remarkable site, catering for every taste imaginable. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Stunning colours Inge and I love the way you framed the shot!!! Although too bad those leaves aren't self cleaning... hehehe... The little plants floating next to the waterlilly are called water lettuce here in the states and are illegal to have in certain places due to them choking out the ponds and lakes...

Ah, that's interesting about the water lettuce.....they do tend to propagate themselves at an incredible rate, so it's very sensible to make them illegal. Let's hope these ones don't escape! I agree about the water lillies being very badly behaved compared to the lotus.....a lot of my shots are just not presentable due to the grunge! Bah!!

Well you did a great job of framing the grunge out of this one... As I review this shot I also must say I love the contrast of the flower against the dark watery background... It just POPS out at me...

There truly is something about blue flowers....always so lovely, and yes, one of the few that were grunge free! Thanks so much for the favourite too

Isn't it though! Makes you want to have a water garden, though I don't know how they'd cope with freezing over! Thanks so much for the favourite too

There are a few species that survive winter just fine. We have them here in my area, but they're not as fancy as this one!

That's interesting because I thought they all liked warmth. Do you have any links on the ones that are ok there?

Here's a pic I took at the local pond, which I know to have year-round water lilies growing in it. [link] Also, here's a link that describes the habitat of an abundant perennial waterlily that grows all over the US and southern Canada: [link] I know there are others, but don't know what they're called.

Oh yes, that lovely photo of yours...one of my favourites from a while back. Thanks for the other link too....very interesting and might be useful for my sister because she gets heavy frost where she lives and we were wondering if there was a type that would survive that.

Hope your sister can plant a few of the hardier ones! They definitely come up year after year!
