Description I'd date this to 2010/2011 over 2012/2013, but it's all guesswork and unfortunate sketchbook seams in the middle of Maroc's face.

At the time of the KriamBook (5 A.K.), there are 3 rangers at the top of the governmental food chain in Raeth. Head Maroc Baylinthe, his right-hand man Brue Nadir, and the great hero Arren Minetelle, whose missing eye I can never remember which side it's on. The events of the KriamBook have a lot to do with the political scene in Raeth at the time and it bears some striking resemblances to the current American political situation, some of which predate the recent election and some of which I will be recontextualizing and emphasizing due to the recent election. (And here I thought I was being cliche...)

Arren does not get along with the rest of this trio; Maroc is young and charismatic but dangerous; Brue is old, irate, and in deep with Maroc's extended family. Maroc and Arren both come from families boasting a long ranger lineage, but Arren five years prior changed the world fundamentally. Her actions alone are the seeds from which every other Khra story springs, but she is also young--19 when she changed the world, 24 at the time of the KriamBook, and it's all a bit much.

For a while Maroc was a dalmatian, but the more I stare at the way racial information transfers in raethian genetics, the more I can't justify more than a few "purebred" anythings. Arren and Kriamiss are necessarily rare for being as purely white-furred as they are; most people are mutts and folks who aren't canids or felines (like Arren and Brue) are increasingly uncommon. But I feel like genetics within the raeth species or between that species and the other sapient species of Khra is a slippery slope so I'll stop there. (Spoiler: Interspecies babies? No, absolutely not. Never on your life.)
