Quite intriguing. It makes me wonder what happened to upset the wine glass on the right and mess up the tablecloth.

This is a truly beautiful painting! I especially love your handling with the pearls, lipstick, and newspaper. Also, you did an excellent job portraying the texture of the velvet.Β

The only constructive comments I can provide regard the wine glasses; objects that obviously are difficult given their curvature, transparency, symmetry, and reflectivity; and the newspaper type.

Β The left glass' reflections are lovely, it just seems a tad unsymmetrical. The highlights of the stem and foot of the right are well done, but those of the bowl portion could have been refined a bit further and the perspective and symmetry of the wine glass as a whole is slightly off.Β

The stylized font of "The Oregonian" is gorgeous, but with the simpler and more geometric type of the article, it any small imperfections are much more noticeable. Although I myself have yet to put this advice in practice, I've been told that with any type, it is a good idea to print off and trace for the original drawing because the unnaturally straight and precise lines of font are so difficult to replicate and yet easy for one to spot any inconsistencies in.Β

On the topic of color, I am clueless, but of what I can tell you did a fine job in that area. Overall, good work and congratulations! But remember that just because this piece has become a daily deviation, one can never stop improving their craft.

Very neat... Most of the painting feels very realistic and is clearly inspired by the traditional paintings of the 18th century... Think Vermeer and Claesz. The only part of the painting that feels a bit off, is the horizontal wine-glass. But the other wine-glass on the other hand, is the most impressive thing in my opinion. You really grasped the texture and the colours. Well done.

Thank you! Yep, I was definitely looking to Dutch baroque for inspiration. And I see what you mean about the horizontal wineglass.

your painting skills are amazing, the highlights are perfect and the colors blend superbly. I wouldn't be surprised if a Renaissance master made it because it's just that good.Β
