Let me make things clear: I can do 1001 Animations reviews on whatever I want. They don't have to be deep, profound or even well-animated, but at the bare minimum, they have to give me the right kind of enjoyment or something unique, more the former than the latter. This was definitely something fun I stumbled across and I figured it was worth talking about.

I have SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom, but I haven't really gotten to play it yet, mainly because my PS2 or GameCube isn't hooked up presently, and that takes a lot of work (I really need to get a setup like Pan-Pizza where I can plug more than 3 consoles into my TV). And it’s pretty cool that I found fan vids of SpongeBob set to the games' models. This is one of those things you stumble upon when you're drunk and find when you're sober how funny it really is. While all 3 videos together wouldn't make up a full episode and are clearly meant to be watched separately despite being connected, I think they told a fun story.

Honestly, seeing SpongeBob hit "rock bottom" as it were is really funny what with his addiction to crumb cakes and cynical worldview on the morality and corruption of the fast food industry. This is the kind of stuff you'd expect from Squidward, so for the sponge to go down this path, it just makes it very out of the box. As this formerly jovial fry cook's life spirals out of control and leads him to tear down the oppressive establishment he once called a second home, it helps a lot of people relate to and understand SpongeBob's madness since a lot of people who've worked in a dead-end job or fast food can attest to what he says.

Also, it's really fucking funny seeing SpongeBob lose his shit and babble like a crazy homeless guy about conspiracies and whatnot. I actually wanted to know where he was going with the gold standard returning to prominence when the banks fail. It really helps the one guy who did all the voices was actually pretty good for something like this, a lot better than you'd think he'd be. The impressions he pulled off aren't too bad, and his voice for SpongeBob stands out well enough from whenever Tom Kenny makes the square dude go insane. Y'know, technically, since sponges are hermaphrodites, should this count as an LGBT month review? I don’t know, man... I just want to eat my goddamn crumb cakes...
