Theres days when YouTube can throw some weird shit at you and you wind up with gold! While comparing Zing to the likes of a Pixar short would be unfair, it does maintain that sort of structure very well. I wouldn’t be shocked to see this in an episode of Grizzly Tales for Gruesome Kids; a show very well known for the macabre and creepy imagery. And as a fan of The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy this was just what I needed to scratch that itch.

Throughout mans existence we’ve had a number of coping mechanisms to deal with the concept of death. In all likelihood, this really is all that there is to life and we just decompose and our being is erased upon brain death; but I’m not cynic and I like to think there’s something behind this horrible, horrible depressing shell of an existence. We’ve even made a personification for its very concept akin to a grimdark Santa Claus: THE GRIM REAPER! There’s also Thanatos, Itztlacoliuhqui, whole PANTHEONS of deities who deal with the dead as more than just the guys who do the deed. Death is as fascinating as it is terrifying; as even the reaper himself finds out in this short...

There’s always those times when death is knocking at your door... and you kick it in his face! Some people won’t take a hint that it’s someone's time, lest they even be aware they’re headed for the light. Admittedly I am kinda impressed at how this little girl is naive enough to wander into a creepy old mans house looking for her dead cat; yet she’s smart enough to somehow piece together that he’s the reaper and trying to kill her. I also have several questions regarding why the reaper himself has a thread of life, but considering how in Billy and Mandy Grim has his own hourglass I shouldn’t question toon logic.

People have called the little girl a sociopath for her recklessness in cutting down so many strings, playing around in deaths house and killing people, but come in, she's a little kid. I know that only goes so far, but strings are pretty. I would do ANYTHING to get back a loved one! I would make the reaper my BITCH! If he did that to my cat? I Wouldn't even HESITATE to cut his cord... why should she even thank him for giving the cat 8 more lives? Dude is an asshole. I mean if I was the reaper, or god, or whatever, I'd have a fairer time choosing who gets to die and whatnot. Either way this is a wonderful example of how you do black comedy with an ending that legit makes you recoil!
