Description

Another simple band ring, 12018. Hand hammered over various tapered mandrels with occasional re-heating. Material is cupronickel, 25% Ni with the rest Cu. Dimensions: roughly 20.5 mm inner, roughly 6 mm height, avg. 1 mm thick. Initial polished finish (left) achieved with automobile polishing compound already on-hand. Current semi-gloss surface (right) naturally burnished through a year of use. Corrosion left a noticeable green tinge on finger.

Compared to the Nordic gold of Ring 0, this softer and more ductile alloy required less annealing, and was scratched more deeply from wear.
