//fujiwara takeru x artist.reader//

The cold air makes your ears hurt as you ran toward your destination, hoping that you didn't miss him while you were getting ready. As you were running, you kept on having to adjust your bag to make sure that it wouldn't slide off your shoulder mid-run.

Keeping the sketchbook beneath the crook of your arm, you continue your run toward the park. With your heart pumping faster, you felt the cold chill that once immersed your body fade away. You find yourself craving the cool air as you slowly unzipped your jacket in hopes of cooling your heated skin.

Going toward the usual tree you hid behind, you slow your run to a walk and sit down with your legs crossed, facing the trail that remained in the middle of the park.

After a couple of minutes of waiting, you see the lights of the lamppost shut off automatically in response to the soft rays of morning light dying the park in a light blue hue. Taking out your sketchbook, you continue to sketch your friend's features from memory.

Right when you were sketching the strands of his hair, you catch a familiar movement from the corner of your eyes. Looking up, you smile upon seeing Takeru steadily coming closer and closer with each passing second.

His stride slows down to a walk, and you could feel his blue eyes gazing toward the tree you chose to take refuge behind. Wiping the sweat from his brows, he calls out your name, "Hey, I told you to quit waking up so early just to see me."

"And I still like to believe that you don't mind my company." You close your sketchbook and stand, reaching into your bag to pull out a bottle of water, "I need to keep you hydrated, remember?"

Once you were in front of him, you show him the bottled water, and he murmurs a quiet "thank you" before taking it. You admire him, taking this time to watch as he uncaps the bottle and takes vigorous gulps from the drink.

You had a strange relationship with Takeru, and you liked to believe that you were his friend. Meeting him at Honan Academy, you recall that you were just idly sketching the scenery when the sight of Takeru running invades your vision.

Never had you seen anyone look so cool before, and your eyes were immediately drawn to him. Feeling inspired, you quickly turn your sketchbook to a fresh page and begin drawing him running. You didn't know his name, and you honestly didn't care. As an artist, you didn't like suffering from any sort of blocks and took any form of inspiration that you could get.

For the next couple of weeks, you continue to sketch and draw the mysterious runner based on your fleeting memory of him. His movements were incredibly smooth, and you had an indescribable urge to see him again.

Through a series of conversations and events, you found out that the cool runner's name was Takeru Fujiwara and that he was an avid member of the Stride Club, which was all the information you needed to successfully find him.

You call out to him one early morning, earning a lot of giggles and sly smiles from Takeru's classmates as they all believed that you were going to confess to him. When he meets with you in the hallway, you immediately hold up your sketchbook containing pictures of him to help with easing his worries, "Huh? Are those...drawings of me?"

"Don't worry, I'm not here to confess to you. I just want to be able to draw you again, is that okay?"

"Why do you want to draw me?" His icy eyes turn colder, obviously not trusting your intentions.

You remain unfazed and give him a beaming smile, "Because you inspire me."

Since that day onwards, you kept close to him and spent your free time together with him. Takeru didn't question your intentions, and you were free to draw him whenever you pleased.

Resting against the grassy meadow of the park, you slowly begin to draw Takeru. He lay down flat on his back with the bottle of water in his hand, blankly gazing up at the sky while bathed in sunlight. "I'll have to remember to bring some colored pencils next time."

Takeru acknowledges your statement with a small grunt. For the next several minutes, the only sounds that were heard were the tiny cricket's chirping and the tip of your pencil as you moved it across the page.

"Let me see it." Takeru suddenly appears close to your shoulder, earning a jolt from you. He was a bit too close, and you felt the back of your neck tingle when his warm breath hits your skin. "Ah, here, I'm not quite done shading it, though."

You show him your sketch, and his blue eyes take in how remarkable it was. He was honestly impressed at your skills, "Have you decided to become an artist as a career?"

"Oh god, no. I only do this for fun." Returning your attention back to your sketchbook, you continue to shade in Takeru's hair.

Obviously confused at your reluctance to become a professional artist, he keeps on questioning you, "It's not like you don't have the skills, so why not make a career out of it?"

"No, I know that I can draw relatively well, it's just...I want to keep drawing simply as a hobby." You take a strand of your hair and place it behind your ear, "I don't want to put a price on what I love to do...because I know if I do that then I'll never feel happy.

I'm really uncertain about my future, and drawing is like a form of stress relief for me. If I end up hating art, then what else can I turn to to be happy?"

When you face Takeru, you felt yourself blush at how intense his blue eyes were. Embarrassed, you quickly murmur, "I-I'm sorry, I didn't mean to vent about my personal problems to you."

"It's fine." He touches at your hair with his fingertips, "It's okay to worry about the future, but I wanted to reassure you that you have time. That we all have time.

No one needs to know what they want to do with their life right away. Just take it a day at a time and focus on today."

Takeru's words were awfully comforting to you, and you begin to smile while clutching the sketchbook close to your chest, "Takeru-kun, thank you. I'm so happy to have you in my life as a friend."

He drops his hand away from your strands of hair, looking down at where your left hand was currently resting on the grass. "What are you doing on Valentine's Day?"

"Eh? Valentine's? Why bring that up?" You question while returning your attention back to your sketch of him.

His silence makes you a bit worried, but you remain quiet, genuinely wondering how he was going to answer. You see him look away from you from you periphery before telling you, "Valentine's day is tomorrow."

"Oh yeah, it does fall on a Sunday this year!" You smile and finish up your latest sketch of Takeru before closing your book. "I guess I'll be spending it like I always do, home alone while napping."

"...Did you not want to confess to anyone tomorrow?"

"Uhm...no, I don't have anyone that I like."

You look at Takeru, seeing him nod while resting an arm on one of his raised knee. He keeps his gaze on the people that enter the park, seeming to develop an interest in the various couples that held hands. "How about you spend time with me tomorrow?"

"Huh?" His request honestly catches you off guard, and you weren't sure how to respond. You were so sure that he was in a relationship with his club's manager, so the fact that he asked you out-

Did that mean your assumptions were wrong?

"Tomorrow, okay, yeah! Sure, I-I'd love to hang out with you, Takeru-kun."

A small smile appears when he turns to look at you again. He whispers your name, and you nod, asking Takeru what was wrong.

You feel the warm palm of his hand touch at your cheek, gently caressing your face. He keeps his blue eyes on you and asks in an unwavering voice, "What am I to you?"

Blushing, you lift up a hand to keep it over his own hand that was currently resting against your cheek, "You're my friend, Takeru...but, if given enough time, I can see myself being together with you."

You feel Takeru stiffen and prevent him from moving away from you. Closing your eyes, you quietly admit to him, "Whenever I'm with you, I feel relaxed and happy. Your tranquil presence is something I admire a lot, and I'm happy whenever you're around."

Takeru moves his hand away, and you found that he was suddenly in front of your face. His blue eyes hone in on to your lips, making you gulp.

He narrows his blue eyes at you before leaning in closer, "Me too, I feel the same way about you."

When he finally presses his lips against yours, you felt all of your hesitation and doubt fade away.

You truly did like him after all.

I'm cry, this makes me so happy. You're so nice, too ahhh~ *//u//* Thank you. Sorry for leaving such a late comment! Was attending an anime convention all weekend~

I also hate the fact that people fail to remember Prince of Stride is an otome game first before the anime's release and that Takeru is a romance option. OTL|| I got a nasty comment on one of my Stride fics for writing an insert of him, lol.
