Description

F. Zeyara

Breed || Cane Corso Italiano

Gender || Dog

Color/Pigment || Unmasked fawn/black

Height/Weight || 27"/140 lbs

History || Zeyara has been brought in from an Italian breeder whose family has been involved with the Cane Corso, Neapolitan Mastiff, and now Cane da Presa Meridionale for over sixty years. He keeps extensive records on his dogs but isn't part of a kennel club; however, his dogs are known by people from all over and he does stud out his dogs and sell to kennel club breeders on a regular basis, and he also uses registered dogs in his program when he sees fit. Zeyara is a large male who has become available to me for breeding and titling. He is already five years of age and has been used as a stud dog in his breeder's backyard for many breedings, some registered dogs, some not. I was able to see some of his offspring and they have many merits I hope to bring to Fortezza by breeding him. He will also be collected for later use in case.

Temperament || VERY aloof and suspicious of strangers. This dog was born and raised on an Italian farm for the working purpose of guarding the estate and cart. He was not socialized like we socialize dogs in North America. He was born and raised naturally without excessive exposure to everything like I do with my dogs. Without these things, he is still obviously very stable and not easily provoked nor hot headed. He is laid back but at any discernable threat, he is on his toes, hackles up, tail up, puffed up and can become very formidable. He is a gorgeous boy and is very unique to my other CCs, especially the bitches, yet it's interesting to see the similarity in original temperament.

Conformation || He has exponential type for a non-registered Italian-bred Cane Corso. I believe his type is closer to the original larger type of the Cane Corso (for guard and war), less of the farm type (similar to the original Neo). However, his temperament is what makes him stand out the most. He is rectangular, longer in body than is tall, with large bone, a long back (not washboard, which is more of a modern phenomenon his line hasn't been exposed to), correct head proportion, good musculature, sound and flexible. He is not cowhocked or splayed; his toes are tight and he is in good condition. He does have a bit of dewlap and wrinkling near the throatlatch but not over the head.
