So Sonja and I trekked out to a nearby field (on the side of the road) amidst rain and both being sick, and I'm so glad we did! She's an incredibly talented photographer and a joy to work with.This is by far my favorite gown I've ever made (and also the dress-porn-iest). The base layer is a fine linen that was on crazy good sale, while the top is silk chiffon (unfortunately, not on sale, though some bits were scraps from previous projects). I also found a half yard remnant of this beauuutiful beaded lace, which I cut out and used as appliques for the front, back, and sleeves. All in all, I was very happy with how it all turned out, and it's incredibly comfortable and breathable, which is really nice for warm weather events.
And yes, I know Galadriel has golden hair, so if it makes you feel better, just think of this as a Celebrian costume ; )

So lovely! This reminds me of the way Sam describes Galadriel in the FOTR: that she is at once both young and joyful, and also removed and wise; innocent, and also worldy. That's a difficult image to capture, but I think you've done it
I'd love to see more detail shots of the dress, too, after the way you've described it.
(p.s. In the Silmarillion Galadriel is described as having silver *and gold hair, like the light of the Two Trees. So you rock your hair out!)

You're such a beauty ! The dress looks fabulous and from here I have some difficulties to see how it's your "dress-porn-iest" (but maybe this designation is a play on words that I don't understand).
But I must admit : even though I think you have a noble bearing, the same as Galadriel, I see you here, with your gorgeous silver hair, as the most amazing Celebrian that I've ever seen. So yeah, for me I see here a Celebrian portrait, but the most wonderfull !

Haha, I use the term "dress-porn" to refer to really pretty dresses, i.e. lots of beading, fine fabrics, intricate details, etc.
