My emotions tie me to the ground,
Binding me with cold metal chains,
The confuse me as they start to become soft, gentle whispers,
Beckoning me out in the open.
I can't comprehend why they have to attack me from behind,
They claw and maul me.
What can I do but submit ?
They are irrational,
I haven't the will power to reason with myself.
I feel the nausea come on as the roller coaster excels,
My emotions waver, then start up again with no warning.
I can't take it anymore.
As I lie here,
Torn and broken,
Discarded,
My emotions suddenly lift me up.
They tell me I must get up.
I can't let it weigh me down,
I must break free.
Though I may not understand,
I haven't the time to ponder my emotions,
As I break free from the shackles I created,
And fly.
Though they once imprisoned me,
I have grown wiser since.
And, now I know,
That the very thing that once condemned me,
Will set me free.
