Description After WW2, the Royal Air Force flew US B-29's named Avro Washington's. Any US plane in their service was given a name of a US State or city , or in the case of trainer planes, a US University. This was named after the British manufacturer that modified or re-engined them for RAF use. So this what-if airplane is a Northrop YB-49 flying wing rebuilt by Avro as the Delaware. The US jets (8) were replaced by 4 Rolls Royce engines. A scratchbuilt model carved from basswood in 1/144th scale and completed with styrene details.

And this completes my current United Kingdom collection folder.

Excellent model, but the ship would still have stability problems that Jack Northrop could never over come.  And the Air Force went with Convair's B-36 instead.

Four Avons in exchange for eight J-35s sounds like a good idea!

An excellent model. Were I able to to afford it, I would ask you to make one for me. Always love the RAF camouflage colors. This would have been a wonderful plane, had not unscrupulous men plotted the downfall of the YB-49. If interested, I know of an excellent "what if" history of the flying wings career with the USAF. Great work and best of luck in future endeavors.
