also how did you draw the clouds? they're amazing

Remarin In reply to puffi32 [2018-03-19 17:36:04 +0000 UTC]
:0 I use a cloud-brush that can be found in many various brush packs, and simply kept in mind where the light comes from, and how the clouds would cast shadows on the ones behind them
When you see me paint them in the process video, I'm thinking right from the beginning about the positive/negative shapes of light/shadow.
To make it look more finished/less flat I added some lighter areas, and a more saturated gradient to make the color more interesting

For your first one, it's absolutely fine to go with a cheap one c: My first tablet was a very small silvery Wacom Bamboo Fun, and you can find some good choices second-hand too (ebay or amazon)
Though I might not be the best to ask about what tablets to use,, because after that first one stopped working (after 4 years of no problems at all!) I still sticked with Wacom bamboo, just slightly bigger (I didn't look at the size, and accidentally bought a size larger than my previous one oops)
From what I've picked up on, I think Wacom is the most common tablet you'll see people use. The more recent normal ones, are called "Inuos" and "cintiq" are those with large touch-screens.
So far I've only ever used a cintiq during a short internship, and BOY was it a weird switch (the surface was much smoother than what I was used to)

Haha, thank you so much for the help!! I will probably now purchase a wacom or cintuiqe!! I really appreciate you giving me advice!

I love how intimidating you made her look, it fits perfectly! What references do you use for your human/ anthro anatomy though? You're really good at working with anatomy, so I thought it would be a good idea to ask.

Remarin In reply to Dragonluvr1 [2018-03-17 22:50:15 +0000 UTC]
Thanks! And I generally don't use references that often. It's all about just simply getting familiar with the muscle-groups and general placement (where do the shoulder muscles connect to the collarbone, what are the main muscle groups in the forearm, and how do they change shape dependant on how you turn the arm, etcetc)
Once you draw buff bodies often enough, it becomes (HAH!) muscle-memory. Though it's also important to once in a while check with some anatomy videos, just to make sure you haven't been doing something based on entirely wrong landmarks.
I recommend looking through some Proko videos if there's a specific body-part you feel ready to tackle www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDgyQj⦠(notice, how I'm mostly just drawing upperbodies, like all the time? Well that's because I've not yet really bothered to learn how to properly do dem legs)
Once you start picking up on one or two details, it'll get easier to connect those to the next few. And so on and so forth. Plus you'll get the hang of general muscles and bone structure, and can then decently improvise the stuff you don't know.
But just take things easy at the beginning. I sometimes have to rewatch one of his videos multiple times to absorb more than just vague shapes and general areas.
It's all about understanding -why- something looks the way it does :0

You draw seriously amazingly without references. I hope that I can get to your level of knowledge and drawing capability ofΒ anatomy sometime. I'll check the video out, thank you for the help. I'll keep this in mind!
