Description "Have pity on me whatever you are!"
"A lady called, I prayed for her to command me." -Dante, upon meeting Virgil at the Gates of Hell

Virgil was the once famous Roman poet whose ideals lead to his banishment to the outer edge of Hell along with others know as the "Oppurtunist".

Pre-Hell

Virgil was once a masterful Roman poet of the final century before the Common Era becoming well-know by many along with others like Homer. Virgil is the author of the Aeneid.

fter nearly 1400 years in Limbo, Virgil found himself being called by a beautiful woman, asking him to help a friend she fears has gone astray. Appearing at the Gates of Hell, Virgil meets the Crusader Knight Dante. He offers his help as promised to the lady Beatrice. From then on Virgil helps Dante to transverse the Nine Circles offering guidance and advising him of the purpose of each circle. Virgil also appears to be versed in magic as he gave Dante his first spell at the Gates of Hell.

Virgil serves as an ally and guide to Dante, with all of his lines being taken directly from the poem. Since he has long since passed on, he most likely to only appear as a ghost.

Trivia
