Description So, one of my favorite horror movie series is the Ju on/ The Grudge series. I absolutely love Kayako and Toshio and while the quality has gone down a bit (The Grudge 3 was kinda a let down and Ju on White Ghost/Black Ghost was more loltastic than anything) it's still as terrifying as the first time I saw (the first few movies of both series).

For a little background on this particular pony, Saeki Kayako was a married woman who was essentially murdered along with her young son by her husband. The anger she felt spreads like a curse from the origin, the house she was murdered in, to the outside world destroying everything in its path.

Now, taking the two films out (since the American one is essentially an American remake of the Japanese film) you can actually make a timeline to plot out the curses evolution between the films. Even aspects of the first "The Grudge" film can be used on the timeline.

Essentially, everything starts with Kayako and her mother (covered in the end of "The Grudge 2"). Kayako's mother was an Itako, essentially a Japanese exorcist. She removed the evil or negative spirits from those who visited her, and put them into her daughter. This caused her daughter to act strangely and as such, she was often avoided once she'd entered school. When she started university (according to wikipedia this time) she met Shunsuke Kobayashi (replaced with this American teacher, Peter, in "The Grudge"), who she fell deeply in love with. However, she later marries Saeki Takeo and has a son with him, Toshio. Takeo was actually a pretty decent guy who had genuine feelings for Kayako and accepted her.

They live pretty happily until Kobayashi becomes Toshio's second grade teacher. Kayako's flame becomes relit and she writes about her love for Shunsuke Kobayashi, but her husband finds the journal she wrote in, flips out, and murders her and Toshio when he somehow concludes Toshio is not his son, but Kobayashi's. In "The Grudge" Takeo hangs himself and Peter comes into the house, is overcome with the curse at seeing the fresh bodies, and kills himself by jumping off a balcony. In the Japanese version Takeo murders Kobayashi's pregnant wife, stealing the baby within her, calls Kobayashi to tell him he took his wife and son as Kobayashi had taken his family, and is killed by Kayako in the street.

Kayako becomes an Onryo, essentially a dead spirit that returns to the living world to seek vengeance. In Kayako's case, her vengeance is the curse that kills everything it touches.

After this, it all gets pretty crazy. The wikipedia article on Kayako is really awesome, giving an excellent history of this character who is probably my favorite horror movie serial.

For this pony, I wanted it to look as much like Kayako as possible. The shadows around the eyes were the hardest part. I made them unicorns cause the horn poking through the thick black hair somehow looked more dynamic to me. In Ju on she's seen covered in blood a few times and since she's rather monochromatic, I wanted to add some color. I had a hard time trying to figure out what Kayako's cutie mark would be so I covered it with her dress. However, for Toshio's and I had to add him because he's so cute, I knew immediately what it had to be. I used Mar, his black cat that frequently acts as a herald to the doom about to befall people in the movies.

Anyways, I don't want you guys forced to read this novel of a message so I'll wrap this up with the message I've used every time.

More to come. If you don't see something you think you'd like, then feel free to commission.

She's scary, but her story is kinda awesome. I'm a huge fan of hers and I had so much fun with that piece.

See, I don't mind seeing her IN the movies. If I see her OUT of the movies....

Then I start running and never, ever, ever stop.

That's what I would do if this happened to me in real life.
