Character showcase for Mara, one of the main cast of the as-of-yet unnamed comic set in the Crystal Critters universe. She'll also be getting her own short story, as will the others.

The offspring of feral parents, Mara was taken in and raised by a hunter of her kind named Rivas, who had slain her parents when she was an infant.

Mara is a vampire, a race of haemophagic demons originating from another world. Contrary to popular belief, as well as the misleading classification as "demons", vampires are intelligent and no different from any other sapient race (with the exception of ferals). Most non-feral vampires peacefully cohabit other races, known only to few, trusted individuals.

A vampire must still feed on the blood of sapiens to maintain good health. Some harvest their blood consensually, from trusted individuals. Others hunt at night, draining blood from any number of victims as they sleep. If one is careful, their feeding can go unnoticed and with no harm done. Not all care, however.
