Description
  Captain Sean Smith tapped his fingers on the arm of his command chair anxiously. Starfleet had ordered the USS Pendragon to the middle of nowhere for a classified rendezvous with an as yet unnamed starfleet vessel. The crew were on edge, the Galaxy class USS Odyssey had been destroyed the year before and the quadrant had fallen into chaos. Tensions were rising on multiple fronts, and the Enterprise D, fifth federation ship to bear the name had been destroyed, so a classified mission this far from any inhabited star-system...
  "Captain," Helmsman Joseph called out, "starship approaching, Federation warp signature."
   "Onscreen," Captain Smith called out. A moment later the viewscreen showed the starship drop out of warp. The vessel was a Sovereign class class, 700 meters in length and Starfleet's newest class. The captain frowned, that couldn't be the Sovereign, she was in the Orion sector.
"What is the ships registry number?" he called out.
Commander Jacklyn hesitated and her eyes grew wide, "NCC-1701-E," the bridge officers turned to face her in surprise, "USS Enterprise...Sir Captain Picard is hailing us."
Captain Smith turned to face the screen again as the massive flagship glided to a stop before the Constitution class MKIII cruiser. "Onscreen."
