Phew, another one done already! Here's 2/3 for my favourite Bug type, Galvantula. I know people get so icky about spiders but I have a thing for invertebrates and I think it's quite cute. Just don't piss it off coz' it's got an electric charge. And just FYI, Joltik is the cutest Pokémon out of all.
This image was based on the concept sketch that I submitted a couple of weeks ago. As stated in said post, I based Galvie on the juvenile Green-Bottle Blue Tarantula and a mix of jumping spiders for the face and Jewel spiders for the spines of the abdomen (which I covered in fuzzies to be clever). Instead of giving it four legs I decided to stick to the arachnid way with eight, but made it so they moved together in pairs rather than separately.
Done in Photoshop CS5 with a Wacom Cintiq 24 HD in about four hours or so.
I want a pet tarantula so bad!

Props to the realism. Nice that you even added the claws on the tips of the legs. Only thing I wish you did was make the hairs more smooth and not shaggy.

Thanks! I see what you mean, and I probably would have done it but I don't tend to spend a lot of time with these so I went for the 'shaggy' look to save time really!

I wasn't really a big fan of Galvantula before I saw this, to be completely honest. But the realism you bring to it, not just the art style, but the detail into what it's anatomy would be like in the real world, has actually made me kind of fond of it. I like how you took the four legs and made them look like they were each a fused pair of legs. It makes it maintain that it's an arachnid by still having 8 legs but doesn't remove the iconic look of the Pokemon. Great job; this might be your best work yet.
