Description
BASIC STANDARD - BREED INFO - COLOR CHART
Originating as a squirrel dog in Northern New Jersey during the late 80's, the Jersey Feist has distinguished himself as a confident hunting dog of small game. Over the years the breed has been refined and his resume expanded to include larger game. His tenacity and fearlessness has lead him to embrace many challenges although the skills that make him an expert treeing and hunting dog make for a challenging pet. The Jersey Feist requires early and consistent training to ensure that he is not argumentative or aggressive with other dogs and strangers as he can be very territorial and aloof. As a companion he is not known for his affection, rather this breed acts like a cat with the mind of a person and establishes himself as a resident rather than a pet. He's wholly independent yet very clever and almost seems programmed to know how to work game. Though they are a healthy breed capable of living into the late teens they do suffer from some skin and eye conditions. As a whole he is a good hunting dog and reasonable companion.
The Jersey Feist is a CLOSED breed.
Any "Jersey Feist" found outside of Telos (on this platform or others) are not true to the breed as Telos is currently the only place to acquire the Jersey Feist.
