Ye gods! I'm absolutely floored by your productivity! Do you sleep? I've chosen this to remind myself to revisit your factory in the future to see what mega output you'll have done.
Deacon Mushrat...? I'm partial to Porky, myself.
Thanks for sharing (although I have a feeling we're only seeing a fraction).

Oh man, I do need a day off!Β Deacon Mushrat has a cravat. That's where I learned that word.
Β Thank you!

I thought you might be a Pogo fan (it was a daily cartoon in the Rocky Mountain News, when I was a kid). It was written and drawn by Walt Kelly. He tended to poke gentle fun at Washington politics. One of the recurring characters was Deacon Mushrat. I was able to find a great frame of the Deacon getting his cravat chewed on by the pupdog, but this message thing won't allow me to paste it. Just Google 'Walt Kelly's Deacon Mushrat', and scroll around a bit.

Of course I know Pogo!! I have most of the vintage books and even a year's worth of comics clipped out of the newspaper when they were published. (They were my mother's) I loved that comic ..until it started getting weird and dark and political...

Apropos of that, do you suppose that we, as childhood readers of Pogo, were influenced by Kelly to become artists? Among others, of course.

Oh of course!Β Our life dream was to be published cartoonists like Walt Kelly. Then we found out how hard it was.
Β Now we post our stuff for free online. Dreams have this way of morphing into different story lines.

Heck, back then all I wanted was to be an "Artist". Then, as you say, I found out how hard that was. Reality happened.
Now, yes, we post our stuff for free, but is there a brick and mortar gallery or a publication, that offers the same audience that dA does? Isn't the essence of being an artist to be appreciated as a unique perspective by as many as possible?

Made me laugh! That's the crux: whether to be like Van Gogh or Kinkade, that has a studio of artists painting saccharine, formulaic cottages.
