Story:

Travelling through the White Forest could be dangerous.  Sura had heard the lore and knew that there was a substantial spiritual presence here.  But this was exactly the way that the shaman had told them to go.  His directions – somehow vague and yet strangely accurate – were leading Sura and Neisha through the heart of the White Forest.  They were on the final leg of their journey.  They were seeking out the Soul Pool – where waters blessed with Aippaq’s breath would reveal Neisha’s spiritual companion guide.

Neisha walked silently next to Sura, both of them not wanting to disturb the mystical white haze that enveloped them.  Sura kept her hand on Neisha’s neck, partially for comfort of feeling her presence and partially for the warmth it provided.  An eerie white fog floated through the forest, leaving patches of opaque mist that the pair travelled through.  When it would clear, they could see strange creatures scurrying about – most of them white in color and matching the snowy surroundings.

Sura realized that Neisha’s pure white albino coat fit in beautifully with the forest, and suddenly hoped that the forest would not want to claim Neisha for its own and keep her as one of its prized creatures.    She knew she was being paranoid – wondering if spirits were playing tricks on her mind – and looked over at Neisha.  Her beautiful white Tokota looked back at her, the pale pink eyes making contact with Sura’s brown eyes.  The girls had been together for quite some time and could often communicate with one another by just a glance.  Neisha’s eyes told Sura that she had not fallen under any spells.  No, her Neisha would always be strong and clear of mind.

The fog suddenly lifted, revealing a rocky outcropping before them with strange talismans marking the entrance to a cavern.  It was exactly as the shaman had described – the entrance to the elusive Soul Pool.  Sura walked with Neisha, as they approached the opening and paused.

“I can’t go with you girl,” Sura said aloud to Neisha.  She was only talking, but it sounded so loud to her ears, after such a long period of silence.  “This is your journey and yours alone.  I will be waiting here for you, when you emerge again.”

Sura waved her hand towards the cave, as she encouraged Neisha to go in.  Somehow, whether it was magic or understanding, Neisha seemed to know exactly what Sura was trying to communicate and she stepped forward into the darkness.  The cave was dim, with cold rock surrounding her on every side, and she turned to look back at Sura – her eyes flashing reflectively against the darkness – before she disappeared from sight.

Whether her animal vision permitted her eyes to pierce the darkness, or a strange magical hue provided just the right amount of mystical light, Neisha was able to make her way forward through the cave.  She followed the path, catching glimpses of shimmering stones and glimmering fireflies, until she could sense the water before her.  The rocky floor descended slightly, to the clear cold waters of the Soul Pool.  There was magic in this place and Neisha could feel it.  She stepped forward, walking towards the water’s edge and hesitated briefly.  Then, one foot at a time, she stepped into the still water.  It was invigorating – filling her with a new sense of life and purpose – and she let its power embrace her.

But the true magic was the moment that she put her mouth to the water’s surface and took a drink.  As she drew the water into herself, she was filled with a sense of purpose and wonder – and the waters began to swirl, from which a glowing figure took form and sprang forth to reveal its itself to Neisha… it was the spirit of a deer.  Her soul animal was finally revealed to her…

I don't know what they did, but they fixed my computer (at least for now) remotely... so I don't have to send it in for servicing.    I decided to upload this (in case I were to loose access to everything again) first... now to do a serious backup of the computer.

Thank you... so much!
I really struggled not having a reference to work from and just creating something in my head and then trying to figure out how in the heck to get that on paper (digital canvas).  It needs a lot of work (... paint cave water how?!?).  But I'm super glad that I tried something new and went for it.  And now, I have lots more Toko's to practice Soul Pool paintings with (assuming I get them all to dom, LOL).
